No 8cres???
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Okay now i'm ready to sack the coach.
Seriously, he's the only young bloke that looks likely to become a dominant clearance player....& we don't play him?!

After that performance we bring in a small forward for another small forward. So Fisher and Dempster on Moore and Cloke. Geary on Fasolo. Or maybe Geary is on Cloke and Dempster on Fasolo.

I'm really hoping Minch gets a crack at playing as an inside mid as well as stints in the forward line. He dominates clearances in the VFL and if he gets his hands on the footy 20+ times that will do wonders for his confidence.

"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....

Glad they rewarded Minch for his efforts. Worried about how all our oldie backs go on the big MCG.

Glad a good ball user comes in. I agree Bluthy I'm conserved about us playing Cloke back into form like last year.
I hope we arent playing Fisher this year with the view of him playing 22 games. I would hope he is only around so Goddard doesn't have to play all 22 games. Why haven't we given Goddard a chance to take a scalp (even an out of form one)

How poorly do Dunstan & Geary have to play before they're dropped? The clubs team selections are starting to become as farcical as they were in the Lyon era.

Re: Round 3 team. Bring out the Minch.
No reason for Acres not being in the seniors. We need clearance players, and he has shown he is that kind of player, and should be played regardless to step up his development, and at least try and improve the ordinary midfield. Then again I don't think Richo has a handle on the whole thing right now, and is is reluctant to take even the slightest risk, but Minch's form had to be rewarded, though I bet it was through Richo's clenched teeth.

B: J. Geary, S. Fisher, D. Roberton
HB: J. Newnes, S. Dempster, S. Gilbert
C: L. Montagna, D. Armitage, S. Savage
HF: M. Weller, N. Riewoldt, J. Billings
F: J. Lonie, J. Bruce, P. McCartin
R: T. Hickey, L. Dunstan, J. Steven
Interchange: S. Ross, J. Webster, J. Sinclair, D. Minchington
Emergencies: T. Lee, B. Longer, T. Membrey
I wonder if the AFL would consider us doing a special one-off immediate trade - Acres to Freo and we get Dawson back. I feel like we need more old bad-kicking cover defenders. Screw the future - our time is now!

We don't need clearance players at all, in fact it's one of the few stats that we are doing ok in. What we need is players with outside speed who can kick. Acres doesn't fit either of these criteria.spert wrote:No reason for Acres not being in the seniors. Acres lacks intensity and needs to show that he can focus and attack each contest with absolute intent. Also needs to work harder when the opposition have the ball.

I know he had one good quarter against Port, but there were a few occasions when he let his opponent lead him to the ball

Super Happy to see Minch in. Con will be ecstatic!
I'm pretty sure Blacres will be back after he meets whatever task the coach has set him at Sandy. He is a BIG bloke; will take time (just like our number 1 draft pick) ...

Re: Round 3 team. Bring out the Minch.
You can have million outside players with speed who can kick, but they need someone to get it out to them cleanly, but I don't see a lot of clean clearance work so far, it's all rush and tumble.BringBackMadDog wrote:We don't need clearance players at all, in fact it's one of the few stats that we are doing ok in. Will Riewoldt play? Tony74 mentioned that had it not been such a milestone he may not have played last week? Hence the emergency selection of Membrey?

Yes. But I think there may be one late change.cwrcyn wrote:Will Riewoldt play? Tony74 mentioned that had it not been such a milestone he may not have played last week? Hence the emergency selection of Membrey?
