Let's not do what those d'heads have done! Just a sacrificial scapegoat to calm their members. Bet they haven't even worked out what's going wrong. Action for action's sake.

Read this article, if it's true the Dopers are a Farkin basketcase,
eg. It’s believed that aside from John Worsfold, Rob Harding (game intelligence and opposition strategy coach) and Neeld, no assistants were permitted to discuss specific strategy and tactics with the senior coach or players.
This extended to game day in the coaches’ box, with almost every suggestion regarding a heavily criticised game plan funnelled through Neeld.

Sacking Dixon would send a signal that we don't tolerate the woeful kicking.
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Fair comment LL. Neeld proved himself to be a bloody awful senior coach. However, despite a very similar senior coaching "pedigree", Mark Harvey appears to be "fireproof"
I have to confess that after my weekend tantrums (in the wake of our woeful season thus far) the blood has cooled, and I'm now adopting the view that what is needed ASAP is a THOUGHT-OUT, and reasoned RESPONSE to our situation, rather than a KNEE-JERK REACTION (a-la Essendope)
Dixon needs to be taken to task regarding our goal kicking. The entire footy department needs to be reviewed as a matter of urgency. Dismiss the Senior Coach? Well unless a BETTER replacement can be installed without too much disruption, I'd bite the bullet and let the guy finish up the season ON ONE CONDITION: Start playing young and (so far) untried players. Mix things up a bit. IF the season has indeed "gone" then lets get something from it, by seeing just what we've got available to us.
St Kilda forever ( God help me)

Sacking coaches is not the way to run a football club.

Re: Sacking assistant coaches.
Ridiculous knee jerk response and a desperate move. Has an assistant ever been sacked mid season? Seriously?

Should be paying Neeld $10k for every bit of IP he can find.

Nor are re-signing ones who still have a year left to run on their current 5 year term and are yet to prove that they warrant an extension...
Why do we do one or other???

Re: Sacking assistant coaches.
No desire to follow bombers' lead - but am I alone in thinking our situation and theirs are almost identical? Watched Lloyd set out a five point plan for them on footy classified last night and it sounded exactly the same as we need:
1. Identify brand and game plan - what the hell do we stand for?
2. Redefine assistant coaching roles - for us, I'd say we need a game-day strategist
3. Reengage the players (show a bit of passion in the coaching!)
4. Experiment - win, lose or draw
5. Find out about your list - invest in youth
They're also in exactly the same situation as us of having just given Worsfold a 2-year extension for no good reason. We'd better watch out or before we know it they'll have bitten the bullet and will snap up Caracella ahead of us.
