Enough is enough

Post: # 1749398Post Ghost Like »

Forgive me, it's been nearly 4 years since my last confession on Saintsational. I've still been going to the footy and popped in here from time to time, just refusing to engage for reasons of sanity. However, enough is enough. Allow me to release this build up of anger that only St Kilda can cause.

Coach: Time to go. After 5 years you've proved you are not a senior coach. Too soft, too one dimensional and losing the faith of supporters and likely the players monthly. Perhaps Richo may have been the greatest assistant coach ever but lacks qualities to rally a cohesive coaching panel, build a young list to play to a definitive game plan and ultimately become the sum of their parts.
To watch him on 360 asking Scott questions as if he's the work experience kid whilst looking at him for validation when he states some bland, obvious, non committal answer. Enough! Take your assistants with you, all of them. Move heaven and earth to get some or all of Ratten, Mitchell, Hayes and Harvey.

The Board: Time for a spill, time to SEEK the best for the club.

The List: Massive changes please. I don't care if a player may make it at another club, he likely won't make it at the current St Kilda. We need to get picks in rounds two and three of this years draft.
I've read with interest the comments regarding our rucks Hickey and Longer and all I know is neither are good enough for the number one or two spot. Both Marshall and Pierce have shown more in limited opportunities which is damning for the other two.

Recruiting: Thank god changes are happening, happened. When we are finishing in lowly positions we cannot afford to make mistakes. Paddy was a mistake when the club was crying out for a line breaking big bodied midfielder / forward. We did not read the change in the game. We are now suffering from football's version of illiteracy. We must learn. We must hold our high draft pick and seek FA's from strong clubs. Please throw our 10 year future at Josh Kelly and surround him with talent, a game plan and a cutting edge coaching panel.

Going forward, my list...

B: McKenzie (?) Roberton

HB: Webster Carlisle (?)

C: Clark Steele Acres

HF: Billings Battle Membrey

F: Gresham Bruce Long

R: Marshall (?) Steven

IC: Ross Paton Coffield (?)

KEEP
Freeman
Geary
Austin
Phillips
White
Sinclair
Clavarino
Minchington

TRADE
Hickey
Savage
Dunstan
Lonie
Newnes
Longer
Armitage
Goddard
McCartin
Rice
Weller

DELIST / RETIRE

Thanks for allowing me to rant & release my anger & frustrations. Cheers!!!

Based on this need to recruit a ruckman .
Try and get 2nd and 3rd round pick
Surely Ross starts on the ground ?

Agree with the rant at the start though!

Jack Steven will be 29 next year, and he would definitely get us an early 2nd round pick so add him to the trade list.

are you insane. Our only quick midfielder and you want to trade him out? If Richo goes then we will rebuild quickly. We have talent there its just not being tapped. We have a young team and are missing a few key players. Once we get them we will improve quickly. Bring on 2020

Jack is all that, but you forgot to mention he’s probably our worst kick and he’s playing the same selfish football that Trent Cotchin was playing a few years back.
We wouldn’t miss him that much, IMO

Probably about 11.2% of the OP may actually occur.

Overwhelmingly agree with the sentiments.

Would probably just query a few of the "Outs"
- Goddard : we have to play Goddard to make an informed decision but for some reason Richo won't, though maybe the tribunal might force his hand this week
- Rice : I like his attitude. Give him another season to simmer and see if he starts to boil
- Armo : he comes with many deficiencies but he does have a go and as someone else mentioned his leadership is a reason to retain him for another year (plus no other club will offer anything for him and I like that "Armo Armo" song!!!)
- Dunstan : maybe one more year
- Paddy : as mentioned we have so much invested in him we need to persevere in case a miracle happens

Agree with pretty much everything.

But I think you ARE Darren Minchington. It’s the only thing that can explain wanting to keep him on the list after so long and still not being able to make it

There are still people here that think we should keep him. It's sad but we need to make tough calls on these sorts of players. Yeah he may have been played out of position in the seniors, or injured or whatever, but it's been long enough.

Sometimes it is a matter of how hungry a player is to succeed. Against the Dogs and Essendon, i just didn't see much hunger by far too many Saints players- they let their opponents beat them to the ball, let their opponents win possession in tight contests, played from behind- not to mention shocking disposal and decision making.. a sign that a player is doing the old "near enough is good enough".
I can take or leave Jack Steven- he is hot and cold, his general field kicking is poor and against the Dons, he looked like he threw the towel in to me- not a good sign for one of our supposed better players.

No leadership on or off the field is what I keep seeing.

Just like the bloke who started this post I have been absent from saintsatioal for over 5 years partly because of all the back biting that goes on & the mental scars from being a saints supporter for over 50 years . I have to say he's right enough is enough Richo has to go. As many on this site have expressed even during our darkest days in the 70's & 80's at least we had a bit of spirit & fight . That insipid rubbish they have dished up this year will kill our membership numbers not to mention the opportunity to lure a free agent to the club. Unless something happens & quickly we are in real trouble  I know that's stating the obvious but I have vent some where
