The Conundrum of the Hannebery Trade
I have to admit, with our lack of experience and leadership, I'm starting to warm a little more to the idea of us getting Hannebery. But the idea of trading that pick #4 in the draft in order to acquire him doesn't bode too well.
What other options do we have in trading for him? Do we swap a future pick(s)? Are there any players on our list who'd perhaps be involved in this trade? Tricky business!

How many games have you watched of his in the past 2 years?Sainternist wrote: ↑Thu 06 Sep 2018 6:04pmI'm starting to warm a little more to the idea of us getting Hannebery.
Armo is shredding Hanners right now.

Re: The Conundrum of the Hannebery Trade
Is there a limit on how far ahead you can trade picks?
Perhaps we could use our next 10 years first round draft picks to load up now on mature age players with broken bodies?

Re: The Conundrum of the Hannebery Trade
I don't see any conundrum at all
It's 3 quarter time against gws and he is benched and looking well n truly cooked
I have no doubt the saints recruiting team are thinking they are in with a shot now

Cooked is an understatement, looks broken. Surely the brains at St Kilda would be reconsidering if they haven't before today.

Re: The Conundrum of the Hannebery Trade
Hannebery is useless now, draft a kid instead
Also if we replace Richo with Longmire I will be seriously pissed off
He's an average coach of a fairly talented team
The GWS midfield are killing the Swans midfield
Hmmmm what to do .... ?
Move Franklin to on ball or at least up the ground !!
But he's too stupid to even consider it !
So their best player sits deep in the forward 50 doing nothing
Longmire is a dumbass

Re: The Conundrum of the Hannebery Trade
The guy is 27 yrs 6 months. So will start the 2019 season as a 28 year old.
The only thing this makes sense for is to help Richo coach on till 2020, as unless they are also signing Gaff and a few others we are not in with a show of winning it the next two years.
Unlees the Swans are desperate fora salary dump and willing to give Hanners away for very little (which seems improbable) then with no 2nd or 3rd this year it most likely will cost us good picks from the 2019 draft (unless they are stupid enough to not keep out 4th pick). This will hurt us going forward.
So Hanners seems to all about helping Richo tread water rather than to get our RebuildV2 off with a bang.
What the club needs to be targeting is younger and quicker players. ie The Dons did well in gaining Smith and Saad.

Re: The Conundrum of the Hannebery Trade
Totally agree with what has been said here, I would be seriously pi**ed if we recruited him as he's not what we need - he's too old (won't play in our next premiership), body is stuffed from so many hits over the years and has definitely lost a yard in pace. DO NOT RECRUIT HIM PLEASE - I know we're not a destination club presently and we're finding it hard to attract top line players but getting him in would be a huge step backwards if we're giving up anything more than a third round picksaintsRrising wrote: ↑Sat 08 Sep 2018 7:36pm The guy is 27 yrs 6 months. Re: The Conundrum of the Hannebery Trade
Like it.
Probably only a two year deal though with a trigger for a third... only 80 years old at the start of next season.

Nah, don't do it.
Can't afford such a risk.
Even if we get him for bugger all, too busted up.
Need someone 4 years younger, like he was 4 years ago.

Re: The Conundrum of the Hannebery Trade
We will be saved from ourselves. Surely. Hannebery and Menzel have recently shown they are not worth a cracker. A Sao not your imported rubbish, but nevertheless not worth seriously considering. I hope we are actually playing mind games, otherwise it is a worry.
