After reading a lot of posts on here it has got me thinking of sharing my opinion about our current situation.
Mid year I thought we were well and truly in a worse place than we were at the start of our rebuild, but having watch the season through it has brought some things to my attention.
- Richo and the coaching staff clearly have a gameplay that either doesn't work or doesn't exist. - The introduction of Ratten and Wade are two HUGE positives given how important a role coaching has played in the past years grand finalists from jumping straight from outside the 8 into a grand final (Richmond & Collingwood). I know we aren't the same as them but coaching has become crucial and is something that we have not only lacked, but been disadvantaged.
- The recruitment of Hannebery. I was completely off this as soon as I heard it given how cooked he is but then I started to realise what he WILL bring. He is an incredible trainer, leader and someone that brings a taste of successful culture. He may not turn into the player he was but he will be a hell of a mentor and given relatively how young our list is, a mentor is something they should benefit from immensely.
I'll leave it at that for now, but I do believe we have a strong core that underperformed this year, one of which being Jack Billings. His form of the previous year shows he's a 25+ 2 goal a game player. He didn't perform to this level at all and I believe it symbolises the teams year and not just him individually.
We aren't going to get any better moaning and groaning, and without giving false hope, I believe we can jump high next year. Maybe not in the 8 but be competitive week in week out is something I think is fair to expect.
Go Saints!

Isn't Hannebery also a bit of a party boy who likes to spend time with his two-strikes buddy?
