If you were on the interview panel
We’d all love to be that fly on the wall in the upcoming interviews with prospective coaches.
What questions should be asked?
Here are a few that could be asked of all candidates.
1. Where are we at with the list?
2. What changes would you consider to the leadership group?
3. What do we need to do to contend for a premiership?
4. What support staff would help you as senior coach?
5. How do you view our VFL association with Sandringham?
No doubt there are 100+ more.
Perhaps equally intriguing would be the answers.

Re: If you were on the interview panel
What will be the first thing you’ll do if you’re appointment
What is the biggest challenge/barrier you see to a Saints premiership
How would you address that
Give an example of a time you’ve had an idea/plan/strategy that wasn’t well received and how you overcame that
What are you’re thoughts on Brandon White (danger question... one answer = automatic disqualification)

Re: If you were on the interview panel
Hope Ratts sits down with a folder full of player info and an amazing presentation that he’s just been quietly developing at home over the past 12 months of observing the club and group.
Some players may have even shown him guarded parts of their personality that he may of never seen had he just stepped straight into the Senior job from outside the club.
Anyway, I just think he’ll be great for this group, in both life and footy.

Re: If you were on the interview panel
What mistakes have you made as a coach and how have you improved since?
How do you improve the current lists skill levels?
How do you improve our forward entries and goal kicking?
How many players on our current list are capable of winning a flag under your tutelage?
How do you improve our list weaknesses?
Map out and tell us how we win our next flag?
How do you cope with leading a club with such a poor history of sucess?

Re: If you were on the interview panel
How do you make a silk purse out of a sow's ear ?
Why are you so desperate that you would risk you once in a lifetime chance to be a senior coach on this list ?
Why are you so stupid that you applied for this job ?
If you are that stupid will you work for free ?

Re: If you were on the interview panel
what players do we need to help us rise up the ladder?
Geez, that's a List Management question that an aspiring coach can't properly answer.
In order to answer effectively, he would need the following info:
- the salary cap projections over the next few years, to work out how much we could afford;
- the types of players available thru Free Agency

Re: If you were on the interview panel
If I was on the panel the club would be in more strife than in my worst nightmare! Is there one amongst us that has any idea as to the qualities of a coach likely to be successful? Perhaps the only guarantee would be if a clone of the current Hawks coach applied! Every other team has taken a punt, some have been lucky (Dogs for one), and some with great lists undone by luck/injury/incompetence.
Is Ratten any good- well Carlton thought not. Is he better now- I have no idea. Is there anyone likely to be better- even less of an idea.
So- all we can do is trust the feedback the senior players will be providing, the nous of those the club honours with the responsibility of selection and probably most truthfully- luck!

Re: If you were on the interview panel
It was NOT funny. Blokes like Newnes deserve your respect, and not to have constant s*** directed their way. Your comment was disgraceful.
He is an AFL footballer FFS, something you could not have hoped to achieve
Perpetually offended am I.?
You on the other hand couldn't possibly be PERMANENTLY offended when poster criticise your beloved maggots?

No one on here has claimed something is offensive more often than yourself. By a long way. You’re always trying to control and censor what people say.
I have never read anything on Saintsational that has even come close to offending me.
No one on here shows less respect for AFL footballers and officials not wearing St Kilda colours than yourself, so saying “he’s an AFL footballer FFS” is a bit rich!
So in conclusion, lighten up a bit!

I never insult Saints officials nor any of the current saints players. You do and I find it distasteful.
The s*** directed at Newnes who seems to be the current whipping boy is also distastful.
Your opinion on anything means jack s*** me.
Your censor comment is a joke when you look at your attempts to belittle posters who criticise the umpires.

Re: If you were on the interview panel
If I was on panel....
1. Can you instill a disciplined game plan into the team like Ross Lyon did?
2. Can you engender a sense of teamwork that gets us back to Grand Finals like Ross did?
3. Can you instil a genuine fear of Saints by opponents as we dominate the completion...like Ross did?
4. Can you walk.....just a few steps......like Ross walks?
I’m expecting a call.
