Hannerbury's pre-season message

Post: # 1820016Post Waltzing St Kilda »

I heard from an insider that when Hannerbury arrived at the club he told the boys in no uncertain terms what the Swans thought of them.

The Swans, in short, have no respect for us. Think we're a joke. Laugh about how easy it is to score against us.

Well, they would have been laughing again yesterday. Ten wins on the trot.

A family member who follows the Swans sent me a text: "Even when we're bad we can count on beating the Saints".

It stings. We're currently the bunnies of the Swans, the two Adelaide teams, and West Coast.

With the possible exception of the Bulldogs (what time is it?) we haven't beaten a Top Eight side this year.

We had a soft draw and we beat the also-rans, generally by small margins. Let's face it, it was another mediocre year.

And meanwhile the spaced-out administration gives a contract extension to Newnes, $800-900k a year to Billings and $800k to Hannerbury.

And may install Brad Scott as coach because he's mates with the footy manager.

Has there ever been an admin so out of touch with the supporters?

What about the fiasco of $900k to Hill?

Forget about bringing over 25 year olds.

Let me take you back to about 20 years ago and show you how our "golden: era was set-up.....

1998 Draft
Pick 11 - Lenny Hayes
Pick 27 - Stephen Baker

1999 Draft
Pick 24 - Jason Blake

2000 - Draft
Pick 1 - Nick Riewoldt
Pick 2 - Justin Koschitzke

2001 - Draft
Pick 2 - Luke Ball
Pick 5 - Xavier Clarke
Pick 13 - Nick Dal Santo
Pick 21 - Matt Maguire
Pick 37 - Leigh Montagna

2002 - Draft
pick 1 - Brendon Goddard

Five years of hitting the draft hard will set you up.
