Re: A Detailed Look At Who Played Well

Shocked to see Wilkie at the bottom of the list... makes me wonder if your approach penalises the defenders a little but then the rest are a lot higher so maybe not. SInclair too is lower than I thought. No doubt Wilkie did his job. He was on the dangerous Robbie Gray, who had 4 kicks, whilst Wilki...

Re: A Detailed Look At Who Played Well

Downa, fantastic job. I reckon all of us has thought about doing something like that but couldn't be buggered. I agree that some stats are just not very important. I have a couple of questions. If a guy takes a difficult forward mark and then kicks a difficult goal is that one or two impact points....

Re: A Detailed Look At Who Played Well

It is worthy of note than not every kick (and mark) receives a score. A player has to show something or do something to score. One other thing....I've highlighted a couple of sentences in the op....That's not fair on the defenders  I thought Paton was brilliant when the heat was on in the seco...

Re: A Detailed Look At Who Played Well
Very interesting DATJ. Out of interest, would Coffield score for placing himself between the line of the ball and Charlie Dixon, or would Howard get the point for a spoil from behind. Just wanted to gauge your opinion on that type of impact.
It's a great point, CQ SAINT. And regret...

Re: A Detailed Look At Who Played Well

Incredible job DATJ Hind is a surprise packet, I liked his game but is what higher than I would have thought. Kent is another that was higher than I thought. Impression was that he didn’t do a lot minus the goal after getting crunched Shocked to see Wilkie at the bottom of the list... makes me wond...

Re: A Detailed Look At Who Played Well

A great job by Junction ! Subjective of course, but my only adverse comment is that I think you were a bit harsh on Dougs down back. His 3rd quarter wasn’t his finest , but I thought Q1, 2 and 4 were very good. I gave him a vote... but it is fine for great minds to disagree ! If you are happy to ba...

Re: A Detailed Look At Who Played Well

Below is a summary from a mate who barracks for an opposition club. A little bit facetious in places but I find it interesting how opposition supporters view our team from an outsiders point of view. Great win eagle. Here are my thoughts which I know you’ve been awaiting. Ryder - energetic, shame h...

Re: A Detailed Look At Who Played Well

Very interesting DATJ, I applaud your efforts. I'd like to know from those who have given input, whether the gradings rate with their views of the game. My question, is there a break even figure or is that simply subjective?
Thank you! I did do a median score for each quarter which I guess ...

Re: A Detailed Look At Who Played Well

Worth comparing to the coaches votes: 5 Zak Jones (STK) 5 Hunter Clark (STK) 5 Jade Gresham (STK) 4 Dougal Howard (STK) 4 Darcy Byrne-Jones (PORT) 3 Paddy Ryder (STK) 3 Rowan Marshall (STK) 1 Jack Steele (STK) Yes most definitely! I think the coaches are mostly like the rest of us. The game can be ...

Re: A Detailed Look At Who Played Well

Love the way you're thinking down at the Junction. Typically I don't pay much attention to traditional statistics, rather I watch the games and make my own judgement who has the relevant impacts on the contest. For what it's worth I agree with your top 6 players, however I was inclined to have Hunt...

Re: A Detailed Look At Who Played Well

Interesting analysis "DownAt", that must have taken you a lot of time! If stats are your skills set maybe you should offer the club your services - honorarily of course as they won't have the funds to pay for this... I wonder how your process compares to that provided by Champion Data, wh...

A Detailed Look At Who Played Well

I decided it worthwhile to do an in-depth review of our players after our great win over Port. This meant not only re-watching the match but looking at every piece of action, often several times. I wanted to find players that impact, rather than raw statistics. To this end I allocated points (and ha...

Are we set to play Carlton on Thursday?

It is also believed people at Carlton and St Kilda have been informed to brace for their scheduled Saturday afternoon game at the MCG to move to the primetime Thursday night. Both the Blues and Saints played on Saturday in round four, therefore would only face a five-day break by playing on the Thur...

Re: Marsh 2 Game thread

Here is my take on Marsh Round 2. But it's just an opinion, and I may have misjudged some contributions Steele. I thought he was sensational. He is just a midfield beast. Long. Was excellent as a HB. Got a lot of the footy and was creative. He’s now become likely for R1. Not sure if he had an oppone...

Re: Radio call of todays game in Morwell

Interesting to see Joyce as a forward. It's always worth the experiment but I think he looks far more at home on the backline, Agree with much of St Loxton. Doubt we'll see any new players (from this match) early in the season. Jonathon Marsh is a unit, and a potential X Factor.

Re: Radio call of todays game in Morwell

Paton impressed with his close checking and rebound, also found his own footy and used it well in general. Robbo is class, as too brown. Had plenty of work this evening. Ross looks better when he handballs rather than kicks. Joyce gets to the contest well, finds position just doesn't win many battl...

Re: Max won't be thrown to the wolves

“For us there is not a lot of expectation on him, he just needs to slowly build for us.” Josh Battle and Howard both add to St Kilda’s flexibility as swingmen, while Marshall and Ryder are comfortable in the ruck or forward. “Ryder and Marshall will be match-up based. If we think Paddy has a better ...

Re: No.1

Face facts everyone, we offered more money than any other team could to Hill. $900k per year is ridiculous money. Now that our Salary cap has been squeezed to the max, lets see how many players "nominate" us next year. PS. How do you think the rest of the players are going to feel when th...
