P.s - Anyone hoping for Grigg to be available at 35 is dreaming, he is not fast but has a killer left foot and can find the ball.......remind you if anyone (Nicky Dal) I think Grigg is one of the more interesting stories of the draft... Has fantastic skills, but is slow as glaciers. Had a pretty aw...

That all said, it is interesting how they see the futures of Archer, Stanley and Simpkin. Seems to be a fair bit of talk that Stanley will be groomed as a defender, perhaps putting a premium on Forwards over defenders. So taking an Elton/Paine with first pick, then perhaps Kersten or Dobosz a little...

With our first four picks I'm hoping for some combination of Paine/Dobosz/Elton, Bolger/Downie, Boseley/Frost/Talia and Grigg/Waldhunter/Sheridan with Horsley and Blake as late additions Yeah looks really good! Add Schade to your list of defenders too - a bit wiry, but tall, competitive and a fanta...

^^^ Interesting with your list of talls a few posts above - notice you left out Jordan Lockyer, I would consider taking him at 25 or 35 if available.... The other tall I heard they have some interest in is Haynes. Haynes wont make it to 25, we need to look out Paine, Bossely or Elton, i wou...

We need to pick up two ruckmen this year, and another next year. 2 ruckmen this year??... So we'll have 5 (including Kosi as this is his best position) going into the 2012 season.. Kosi plays on, 6 going into 2013... Excessive I'd imagine, considering a team only really needs one legit ruckman thes...

There should actually be a couple of decent talls still around at out first pick. I'd say that if any are there we should grab one. If not, then go best available. My hope is that we get a Forward and defender with 1st two picks. Mid with 3rd, then maybe Downie (ruckman) with 4th. Then best availabl...

Would love the club to approach Nathan Bassett for the Defence role - he has done an amazing job at Norwood these past couple of years and is one coach that seems too good not to be in the AFL at the moment. Isn't that Max's role? :? No, Max is the specialist defence coach. So we will have: Defence...

Numbers
Just having a bit of a look at the playing list on the Saints site, and it got me thinking about numbers for next year. I know it's nothing really important at the end of the day, but it's nice to see players rewarded with getting a higher number, or perhaps one that means a bit to the club and supp...

So that leaves three more positions... Academy Director Defence Coach Midfield Specialist coach Sounds more and more likely that Ayres will get the Academy role, and I would be happy with this. Would love the club to approach Nathan Bassett for the Defence role - he has done an amazing job at Norwoo...

One of the match balls from the 1966 Grand Final, signed by the Entire premiership team... :-) Yep!! Yeah? How many exactly were used? Not a clue. My Grandad had it given to him as he was on the board of one of the major sponsors. I believe there were a couple. Now lives in a glass cabinet undernea...

Sorry, I dont get your question??? Patton is definitely better - he will be the first or second pick this year. As for other talls, there are a few on similar pegging to Paine... Tomlinson a little better, whilst McInnes and Elton are probably considered pretty similar. We may even look to Schade o...

Looks like a gun. We would be very lucky to get him, and would be exactly what we need. Big bodied foreword who's tough as nails, would love to see him play 3rd tall like Jack Darling http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BhUcCl9jCw I dont get to see these guys live, and highlight tapes are just that - h...

More likely Jackson Coleman. Coleman will go very late, if at all... Ben Brown another decent tall forward we could get late. But, both still speculative. Of we could get one of the top few forwards in the draft, I say do it. Also, worth noting that next year will b much better for talls, as this d...

Yes, yes and yes. Tall forward, quick off the mark with an innate ability to mark the ball at its highest point. Fantastic accuracy in front of the sticks too and has a very good aggression/pain tolerance. His downsides are his ability to float in and out of the game and whilst quick off the mark, h...

I have heard that we are talking to Will Thursfield, encouraging him to come out of retirement. Ex-Full Back at Richmond. Had some good form early in his career before injuries ruined his past two seasons. Has been in and out of the side because of it and retired this year. Still only 25 though, so ...

I like the point made about Maxy - he was only 191cm or so, so it shouldn't be outside the realms of possibility for Simpkin to fill the role well. He is certainly our most likely option. I like the idea of trying Simpkin there - a few clubs have tried swinging creative forwards into the backline (C...

Thanks doc! Appreciate it! Doing this exercise really helped me see this draft really isn't as bad as many are saying. Yeah, probably not as many stars, but still, the talent is actually pretty even. We will still get some pretty decent players with our first four picks, and like I've shown h...
