Re: Reports saints will sign Jolly

He has a huge Ego which is why he's walked on three clubs... Ok, I'm calling this one as a bare-faced lie. As from my post above. The reason he moved from Sydney back to Melbourne is that his wife was suffering from pnd and they wanted to be close to her family. You should really get your facts str...

Re: Reports saints will sign Jolly

NO to Jolly. By all reports Jolly is a prick of a bloke. His comments in the media at the start of this season were very ill considered and drove a wedge between his teammates. Don't want his type at StKilda thanks. What reports are these? Here's one which gives a completely different perspective o...

Likely leadership group for the post- Roo, Lenny, Joey, Sean Dempster world.... i.e. 3 years or so time...

Gears, Armo (already members), Jack Newnes, Tom Curren, Jack Steven and Seb Ross (all current members of the 'emerging leaders' group).

Seem pretty solid to me.

Re: Rhys Stanley

It's now probably in our best interests if 2014 is Riewoldt's last year. Lee and Stanley should both be capable of playing full seasons as KP forwards and White needs to get a few games next year followed by 8-14 in 2015. Throw in the fact that Hickey and Longer will need to spend time forward and ...

Re: Trade Period Success

Savage will be a better player than Gram IMO. He's harder at the ball & a better kick already. True, but Gram was a far more consistent player than Savage has so far proved to be. He was excellent at running and carrying and breaking the lines. He was essentially equal BOG in an AFl grand final...

Re: Longer deal done

Fair play to Brisbane too. They have used #41 to get Trent West to them. A much more sensible ruck division for them given that Leuenberger is their number 1 ruck who needs a back-up. West is exactly that spudulike.

Re: A reflection on Trading and our issues going forward

But, we did keep Fisher to buttress Bruce's and Delaney's transitions against the development (Bruce) and capability (Delaney) doubts. Gives us something to work with, in contrast to this year's HBF festival down back. Team selection can move beyond drawing straws to see who tops the match up size ...

Re: Trade Period Success

Agree, quite well done despite what some might say. Would really have like to get the Bruce deal done today[/quote] I disagree. IMO an *outstanding* trade period. Essentially.... McEvoy out for Longer in - both taken around the same place in their respective drafts, Longer 4 years younger and will c...

Re: Rumour: Boyd to slip to 3....

Brian tweets a mixture of rumours he's heard (and he does have some contacts in the AFL) and his own opinions. That's what Twitter is for. He used to put that stuff up at bf but they took his posts down as being undermining of the club. That doesn't mean that his posts are totally unsubstantiated no...

Re: Tom Harley motivational speech

I think it's pretty fanciful to suggest that it was Geelong's supposed policy of 'character first' in picking players that had any major relevance to their success. Ditto the character of their then coach. The relevant factor was/is their solidity off-field. The Cook/Costa/Balme triumvirate was what...

Re: Trade Period Success

If both Bruce and longer are delisted due to not signing new contracts with their current clubs, can't we just sign them up as delisted free agents? Collingwood are doing it with Armstrong and possibly karnezis. Same circumstance as roberton being signed last year. Apparently delisting and contract...

Re: What exactly has Scott done?

With yet another article by Caro stating Scott's job is in peril and a number of rumours swirling about in relation to his position being untenable, I'd like to pose the question, what exactly has he allegedly done to create this situation? The current situation goes beyond the sort of "spat&q...

Re: Billy Longer

Could we shoot ourselves in the foot by holding out for both Bruce and Longer for the picks we've offered ? If the Lions and GWS call our bluff we can't pick them both up in the PSD ? No because GWS want pick #25 if Brisbane don't take it for Longer it will go to GWS for Bruce and then Longer throu...

Re: Billy Longer

Really if we want Longer, which I dont and said why, whats the difference between 19 and 25? At that area of picks it gets down to your recruiting staff. I still think we will get him at the igher pick but lets be honest it doesnt really matter. I am not a draft watcher myself, but I have heard it ...

Re: Billy Longer

I am a little sceptical about the need for mids. We need some midfield class but we actually aren't as badly off for mids as suggested. Steven will play for another 8 years or so Armo another 6 Ross looks close Gears could go in there Newnes is touted as a future mid Wright could Saunders will Murd...

Re: Billy Longer

I'd suggest that WE hold the whip hand here. Longer is out of contract which means they take what we give them or he walks. Having said that, I think Pelchen & Bains will do what is fair and reasonable so as to NOT burn our bridges for the future !! Longer's actual value is probably something l...

If there had been no compensation picks this year then we would most likely have kept hold of Dal. Which would have been an excellent result.
