Re: Is it our biggest comeback ever?

the 1975 game vs the tigers was my first saints game and dad was a tigers man, but I became hooked on the saints due to that comeback win!

Re: Is it our biggest comeback ever?

if we were 55 points down vs the mayflowers back in 1937 at quarter time, it must have been one hell of a breeze that we were kicking against that day! Is anyone old enough to remember? Is anyone old enough to remember and still awake at this time of night too?

Re: Solid Foundation forming

I think we can be on the cusp of playing finals again by 2017 as long as we fast track the development of our mids and key forwards. McCartin and Bruce, with possibly White roaming in the dare I say it Buddy role up forward, getting great service from Steven, Dunstan, Acres, Billings, McKenzie et al.

Massive outs for carlton this week

It looks like Judd (shoulder), Gibbs and Yarran (both suspension) will all be missing against us in Wellington.

I guess Carlton couldn't afford to pay them all penalty rates on a Public Holiday!

I'm getting off the fence and tipping us now.

Re: Big Boy McEvoy

Re two rucks being played by us, Hickey is versatile enough to drift forward and have an impact, while also having an impact in the ruck and around the ground, Longer can only do the second of those three things. That is why we can't play both of them in the same side. Hickey with Bruce as relief (i...

Re: The 80's....

Yep, that's the Footscray game you're thinking of. And that Fitzroy game at the Junction Oval had one of the most amazing third quarters of all time. Goals after goals. The two Sidebottom brothers were handpassing to each other at one stage and they were playing for opposing clubs. Max Crow played ...

Re: Jumper Number discussion

All new players should fill the available numbers as they are drafted so.... 4 - McCartin 8 - Goddard 28 - McKenzie 32 - Lonie 33 - Sinclair 36 - Saad 37 - Payne Unless other players who showed something last season want to move up in the pecking order: e.g. Shenton 39 to 28, Weller 44 to 33. Acres,...

Re: Saints games in 2015

What do people think the club will do to make Sunday twilight games appealing for members next year? This seems to be our designated timeslot for many home games next year. As for my hopes for next year, I think our draw will yield a similar number of wins to this year, but I hope our percentage im...

Re: Saints games in 2015

do we still have the 3 game membership thingy? that might help some people this year that cant get to many games that way you can downgrade the membership you are on now to a 3 or 5 gamer and not lose your continuity of membership in years :?:  Yep, that's another reason I do it too, in fact ...

Re: Saints games in 2015

I have a 3-game membership and have done since 2010 after I realised that night/twilight games were so awkward to attend, limiting me to only 6 games that year. I don't go to night games at all due to work commitments now, which leaves me with only one home game to attend this season in Round 1 vs G...

Re: Saints games in 2015

I see 3 wins for us in this draw, GWS in Round 1 and Melbourne in Round 11 and 17.

Anything more will be a bonus for us I think.

I wonder which game will be the members compensation game for Wellington?

Perhaps the Melbourne game at the G?

Re: Saints to trade with the swines?

just checked out Petracca in action via the link in this thread. Thoughts: a unique talent, hard to equate him with any mid currently playing off the top of my head. An inside mid, hard bodied, great acceleration, good decision maker, penetrating kick, good overhead. One commentator said there was a...

Re: We have to take Petracca at number one

I haven't seen Petracca in action, but he sounds like just what we need right now. Although I have been checking out McCartin and Wright and I must say the latter has more strings to his bow, so unless we are desperate for a full-forward or bust, I think Wright should also be a priority choice for u...

Re: Guard of Honour-Lenny !!

I think Lenny could make the most impact on his final game next week vs the crows by being put in cotton wool in the green vest during the first half, then if we are still in touch with them, just imagine the effect a few bone-crunching tackles and hard-won clearances could have on his team mates in...

Couldn't agree more, I thought this game would be the most interesting one of the round for just this reason. Who says tanking doesn't exist? Still its too little too late, we are montys to lose our last two games and the dees would have to lose by 30+ goals in each of theirs to get anywhere near ou...

Re: Adelaide Game

Just had a good look at the draws for bombers (13 wins), crows (13 wins), pies (13 wins) and I think the crows will have to lose one that they shouldn't to miss out on eighth place, because they have the pies covered on percentage. Wouldn't it be sweet if the one they drop is against us? What a grea...

Curious that the crows have been scheduled to play on the Sunday, when other teams in contention for the 8 play earlier in the weekend. Does the AFL know something we don't about their chances?

Re: Hayes to retire

Too many courageous and skillful acts to remember anything in particular, but I think Lenny's 2012 season back after his second knee reco says it all, determined, disciplined, team-oriented and an absolute inspiration to all Sainters. I think he even finished in the top 5 in the Brownlow that year a...

Perhaps this thread should be called Contract time - 2015. In 2015 I do not want to see Jones, Savage, Dennis-Lane, Roberton, Fisher, Simpkin, Gwilt, Maister, Dunnell or Minchington on our list. All of these players are list cloggers for different reasons. Jones (redundant tagger now that Curren is ...

Re: Have a guess at our final position for 2014.

Before the season started I had us beating Melbourne (tick), GWS (tick), Brisbane (cross), Gold Coast (probable cross), West Coast (50/50) and Footscray (probable cross). So I see 6 wins (15th) dwindling down to 3 or 4 wins (17th) by seasons end (god I hope we beat West Coast in Round 14!) and I hav...
