Re: 2013 Whipping Boys

CJ is in pole position clearly, with Pammy (Tommy Lee) taking up Tommy Walsh's old position. Kosi is past it so relinquishes Whipping Boy status this season. Any other players??? Clearly you are not being serious. Tom Lee has played a practice match and two NAB Cup games. He was quiet againt Adelai...

The Moment I Saw

The other day I had an epiphany. One of the those moments of extreme clarity when you know that something just wasn't right. I was thinking about the legacy of Ross Lyon and BJ. I know it's a topic that has been done to death on this forum. But I just reckon we are so much better off without them. I...

Very glad he didnt go to the Demons.
At his peak and I hope he plays a lot of games in the next 2 years.

Amen to that. It is great to see him play well as we know he can. Maybe he will get a new lease of life with the departure of Gram?

Reality Check

There's a few people on this forum who need to take a long deep breath and just chill out. I know we are all hanging out for a serious footy fix but talk about jumping to conclusions. Seriously the NAB Cup is crap. It's only purpose is for seeing how our green kids cope with the pressure and speed o...

Re: Intra club game

Edit: I missed Staley who, out of Ferg, Lever and himself is the one who suprised me. Is a natural FB and a good spoiler, still a bit raw, but I know have pretty high hopes for him after todays efforts. Hickey - impressed me a lot, shared the choccies with Mac - definitely not out of his depth and ...

We Will Win More Than 9

I couldn't help but notice that the football sages at the Herald Sun, colloquially known as the Current Bun, think the Saints will win only 9 games this season. Apparently they base this revelation on our aging list and the fact that our newbies will take more than one season to get up to speed. I s...

Reflections

I was doing a bit of reflecting the other night as you are want to do when there is no footy to watch or support. And I got to thinking how sad it will be if our veteran stars finish their careers without ever knowing what it is like to win a Grand Final. Take a guy like Lenny Hayes for example. He ...

Don't Write Us Off

This is what the Herald Sun is saying about our season and we are yet to play a game: " ST KILDA is the slider of 2013. The Saints won 12 games under Scott Watters last year but it’s hard to see them replicating that feat, and they could have their worst season since the Malcolm Blight debacle ...

Milney the Media Star & a big tick to Boulder

When S.Milne finishes his career with the St Kilda football ( and hopefully helps us win a premiership) he will have a ready made job to fall back on: Football commentator. This guy is hilarious. You should check out his latest video on the St Kilda football club website. It's called Milney on Campu...

Re: Banking on the Draft

just to Clarify ... we never gave Luke Ball away for nothing we were unable to reach a trade with collingwood for him and he then walked out into the draft and secondly Scotty never coached Tom Lee - Watters was the Subiaco coach Tom Lee is from Claremont You Sandgropers are on to it. My apologies....

Au Revoir Dayle

Just reflecting as you do I couldn't help but feel really sorry for Dayle Garlett. I learned today he's not been drafted by any AFL club. It is such a travesty. This kid has got talent to burn. You only have to look at his highlights package to see just how good he is and could be. Not often you see...

Banking on the Draft

We're in the silly season of footy when NOT much is happening apart from drafting new players, some old some new and saying goodbye to others who didn't work out. But this year's draft has got me a bit excited about 2013. It could be because I'm seeing everything through rose colored glasses and all...

Kosi The Enigma

i have spent quite a bit of time lately reflecting on the love/hate relationship that I have, as a Saints supporter, with Kosi. I just don't get him at all. He and Nick were one and two in the draft. But only one of them has ever gone on to live up to his potential. It's not that Kosi doesn't have a...

so why did we recruit roberton? unless were looking for something soft for the players to rest on? have you ever seen Roberton play ?? soft is not the word you would use to describe him he is fearless at the ball (improve on Gram) he is poised under pressure (upgrade on Raph) can take a good contes...

Don't get me wrong. I have enormous respect for Brendan Goddard. He is a fantastic player, was a great clubman, was a bit ordinary this season but his record pretty much speaks for itself. He made a decision to go to Windy Hill for more dough. Good on him. Best of Luck. All the best Brendan. You wou...

If you look at what the Saint recruiters have said we have gone for pace, endurance and athleticism. Young players who will replace aging stars. The big emphasis was on good character. I guess that is why we didn't take Garlett. Shame because he really does have the X factor in my view. That is not ...

This is what the Herald/Sun says: Wright: Athletic midfielder/defender who attacks the ball aggressively and rarely fumbles. Has speed and a big leap. Hard to beat one-on-one. Averaged 15 disposals in his four matches for Vic Country in this year’s under-18 championships. White :Very raw but freakis...

Wright = defender
White = Forward
Murdoch= Forward
Saunders=midfielder
Pierce=Ruckman

No tall KPP defender that I can see so the strategy must be to develop from within. Just can't for the life of me think who.

Draft Observations

That's draft observations with an "r". From what I have read and seen I am very optimistic and confident about tomorrow's draft. I note with interest that the AFL's national talent manager, Kevin Sheehan who is said to be a bit of a guru when it comes to spotting up and coming talent, has ...
