Greedy Drafting can backfire
The old firm of Coll/ Ess wanting the whole box and dice could backfire on them if it drags out to late next week. Robbo on SEN was pointing out the unrealistic strategy of the pies who would resist giving up their own first round pick yet suggest that Freeman will bring a first rounder to them. Ess...

Bombers Trade History
St.Kilda and plenty others didn't set up an injecting program to effectively cheat. They send us a raw deal unlike the sydneysiders who sent sneider & Dempster our way. One was pretty helpful to deal with the other very much not. With an eye to the future we may also be much better building trad...

Jake Carlisle Wanting Out
If the bombers were doing well on their player relationships Crameri would still be there and Carlisle would feel too much of a tug to remain I suspect. The bombers have a sweeter deal @ the Dome than us, they are loaded to the gills with portfolio funds and they no doubt love the reputation they ha...

Lethallee said Aish to the draft
Well it wont be Aish, he's nominated the pies THE BRISBANE Lions have no intention of trading James Aish despite the midfielder's declaration he wants to play for Collingwood. After a bizarre and drawn-out process, the 19-year-old finally announced on Thursday – 33 days after the Lions' season ended...

Heard Ameet state Pick 5 is off the table
Heard the audio on SEN around/after 5:00pm today. Of coarse essendon are 'putting it out there that they want Pick 5 - who wouldn't? I have to say they have already done well out of us Saints with their acquisition of BJ. Can't remember if we got anything in return. From our point of view we have al...

ASADA FINES SAINTS
Well IanRush i suppose it all means some of us can never have enough metadata.
"failing to provide up-to-date information on the whereabouts of their players".
Maybe they had some private time due.

Pick 5 for a MID Thanx
7 News has reported that carlton has cooled on carlisle as they look to the draft more then trade ( not to mention bolton isn't keen on the money over long period that carlisle is looking for) Carlton offering: 500k for 3 years St kilda offering:700k for 5 years we are now in the box seat so I ask ...

Pick 5 = a shot @ Mathieson or Clarke
So the club could actually be well into one of these young mids, not surprising as one of them could with a bit of luck morph into a Lenny Mark2 or more conservatively an Andrew Thompson for instance. My point being (including the 'potential' outcomes) we wont have that major Midfield potential inje...

Hold Pick 5
Does anyone here rate Jay Clarke from the Hearld Sun? He was the one that tweeted possibly Billings for Carlisle. And in a Q&A today someone asked him who the Saints would have to give up if they were going to keep pick 5 and get Carlisle and he said Acres. He can't be serious can he? Like the g...

Hawks team approach makes sense
Apparently nobody at the Hawks gets over 700k. Not even Hodge or Roughead. I can't help thinking how well the hawks covered the absence of Buddy. Saved some money and reinforced the team ethos. If the contract offers are accurate Carls will choose the Saints on financial grounds alone - 3.5 Mill v'...

Senior hawks very good
The experienced hawks used their experience to the utmost . A stack of older experienced players for the hawks barely put a foot wrong as far as i could see. I had the feeling that the seniors were able to keep a consistent focus throghout all quarters and banish mistakes from their game. The hawk y...

Make Pick 5 an inspired pick Sainters
#AFLGF @AFL The AFL Commission has informed @CarltonFC and the @brisbanelions that there will no Priority Picks awarded this year. Great news for us. We must keep pick 5 and take the best player available. Do the Carlisle and Freeman trades with later picks and players. Collingwood will be resigne...

NICKY WINMAR AS RECRUITER
"Animal Enclosure" said ... "Fyfe was a skinny half forward who couldn't hit the side of the barn during his draft year. I had never heard of him at the time but I remember Nick Winmar saying to me he was the best player he had ever seen and was one of the best marks you could see. He...

[quote="Goose is king"]I'm usually all for getting the deals done. You have to give something to get something and all that. But if we can't get Carlisle for our second pick and freeman for our third pick (and I don't think we will) then stuff Essendon because pick 5 is way over his value ...

Pick #5 MID or Structural K.P.D. ?
Con I tend to agree with your take on where the Saints should focus on most, the priority needs to be: 1. Clearance players 2. Midfielders who can kick and give our fwds a chance. This approach implies we hold firm on Pick 5 and give ourselves a chance of adding some more silk to our midfield. Yes C...

Whoooooweeee Dem Collingwood folk are a funny bunch !! They say in one breath Freeman is a sook and no good anyway then back it up with saints first pick is a fair swap... Happy Birthday Cuz
Have a great birthday Nicky. Easily one of my all -time favourate Sainters. I was lucky enough to witness a decent swag of Nickys' memorable marks through the 90s. Still remember the spontaneous roar of 'Niickeeey" when Nicky soared out of nowhere to clunk yet another spectacular mark. During t...

Re: A harsh truth about the Saints best backline
Carlisle being described as a good mark does inspire the imagination a bit. Carlisle, Goddard, Delaney may work well together and be solid enough going fwd. I remember Matt Maguire was a good intercept mark until ruined by major bone breaks in his legs. I'd love to see more intercept marks as a regu...

Re: Nathan Freeman's Hamstrings
Nathan F. is not an outstanding deal ingredient I believe simply because of his troublesome hamstring history. Nathan no doubt realises that he is on a very long term runway @ the pies who apparently were readying him for a trip to Germany for surgery. What are you talking about? I read that that h...

#5 stays @ St.Kilda Ess/Pies look elsewhere
If Carlisle signs up I'll trust AR, Ameet & Co. know what they're doing but I'll believe them all the more if we don't allow the pies or dons to collect either of our first 2 picks. These two clubs do not need any free kicks especially from St. Kilda. Freeman, Carlisle and our first two picks in...

Nathan Freeman's Hamstrings
First St. Kilda's 1st & 2nd picks in the Nat. draft should be kept I believe unless an outstanding deal is being offered & then I would only be comfortable with the involvement in the 2nd pick. Nathan F. is not an outstanding deal ingredient I believe simply because of his troublesome hamstr...

Paddy Approaching 12 monthes since picked.
2nd. preseason approaching for Paddy since last season's draft. Just wishing Paddy all the best for the summer ground work. "Personally I think if we cant do a deal that doesn't involve #5 we should walk away". I appreciate your angle on this Bunk. Firstly i'm assuming we'll get the 7th. best player due to the 2 academy picks coming in before us. Also assuming no Parish. Tell me if i'm wrong please. Couldn't he...

Enjoying Newnes' Development
I wouldn't like to see Newnes drop out of the development picture. I just get the feeling he could keep on developing and making himself undropable.
Newnes seems to be well respected around the club for his effort and professionalism. Still seems young with a good bit of development left in him.
