Re: Saints leading Caddy race

Caddy, Hickey yes.

Weller is an egomaniac. Toy is as hard as fresh bread. Wouldn't touch either.

GC's problem is they HAVE to cull. Everyone knows it. Why deal with them on that basis? There'll be rookies lolling about compulsorily...

Re: BJ offered $1.9m over three years

If he now goes, it's purely financial. That, to me, is a pretty shitty motivation all things considered. It's never worked for me in my professional life.

He'll be well off here or elsewhere. One clubmanship has it's own special currency.

Should stay IMO. Probably won't.

Re: Milne and OBrien investigation

I maintain a quantum leap exists between heat of the moment blabbings when one's mind is scrambled by a combination of white line fever and exhaustion and homophobia. A difference exists with racism because there is not a visual disconnect. That is, a black man is a black man, an arab an arab. Sexua...

Re: Freo Defensive Pressure

The problem is he gets the teams close but the game plan is unsustainable and is and has been proven to be unsuccessful in grand finals. And he coaches for himself. I can't stand coaches that coach for their record. anyway expectation will build for Freo and like at st.kilda dreams will be shattere...

I heard from a rather innocuous source that the GC Suns may have been interested in R Clarke as a potential forward.

Re: The Temper Trap to play at the Granny

Hooray - The AFL have finally realised that their fans aren't all 40 something executives with no taste who don't acknowledge any music released since 1990. Good choice. I'm not an executive but fit into the other categories youve stated! Lady Ga Ga is good value though. Not so much for her music t...

Re: Malthouse, Goddard and Cloke

Fat Ed this morning said a couple interesting things....firstly that malthouse and cloke don't like each other at all, and secondly that there is no way that the blues could squeeze him in...and if they do he will want it very carefully examined. I have no doubt that they would want BJ more than cl...

Re: Best and Fairest guesses

Dempster has been first class and is valued so highly from within. You'd reckon he'll poll really well. Toss up between the Dumptruck and Len for mine, but I'll hang my hat on the former. Nick Dal Santo has been very good. I reckon he'll come in third. Milne, Geary, Roo, Montagna among the next plac...

Re: Gilbert's value

Gilbo had a terrific second half of the year.

We can't afford shucking defenders and we'll get nought for him.

Besides, I reckon he's an absolute terrier. I can pretty much forgive him his dodgy kicks when his effort and bravery is first class.

Re: Malthouse, Goddard and Cloke

Thing is he's a chance at a flag with Freo. They have THAT coach, the Melb monkey off the back and a fine, even list. Goddard's a chance to go there for more money and play out his last five almost certainly in the upper echelons of the ladder. He'll get maybe - MAYBE - one more shot at the prize at...

Re: Goddard and saints going to Free agency to decide his va

I get the feeling that the club has asked Brendon to make an unofficial decision a week or so ago… so that they can move on with signing up the other un-contracted players… Maybe he has said that he is leaving & that is why we have suddenly seen 5 players sign up in the past 2 days. I thought t...

Re: Goddard and saints going to Free agency to decide his va

Goddard is an out and out gun whose disposal and poise is as good as anyones across the AFL.

His departure, if it happens (and I think it will) would/will be an unparalleled friggin' disaster IMO.

Anyone who's caging it differently is featherbedding the bare facts.

Re: Congratulations to the St Kilda football club

Heard on the commentary that we are the only club in the AFL to have won 11 or more games for the last 10 years. Whilst I know we didn't win the big one in that time, it's still a fantastic effort. It has completely changed the image of our club and given us so much more to look forward to year aft...

Watters in The AGE

''I think our best footy and our losing margins have shown we are pretty competitive [against top-eight teams] but to turn the focus and even talk about finals here, it's not something I'm losing sleep over,'' Watters said. ''We just need to be very focused on areas to improve and wherever that leav...

Re: "It ain't over till it's over"

I'd love to see us in the 8 because on balance I believe we have been good enough to warrant a finals spot, but if we finish 9th or 10th I won't sook. A full pre-season will do wonders and there's been a HEAP of good to come out of this year. Off the top of my head: Simpkin - outstanding year. OUTST...

Roos has turned into the ex-coaching Damien Barrett.

Utter turnip.

I really don't understand why he's so quickly gone from mild mannered, interesting and likeable to disagreeable turd in the space of a season.

Maybe he gets paid better for being a twit.

Re: Saints v Cats - Preview and Discussion

Gee, Chris Scott likes a whinge doesn't he. Totally legitimate whinge in my view. Seemed a mid season 'rule emphasis' was imposed before that game. If it did, is that not a form of corruption? The rules are the rules. What is blind-eyed one week should be blind eyed for the year. I was more referri...
