And clearly some can't see the writing on the wall, let alone read it.

Alarming? Not understanding betting odds could at least prolong their careers in some cases!

Why is anyone surprised? These blokes forgo an attempt at an education to chase the football dream. Football potentially could be gospel in many of these young men's houses and from this education through school/tafe is also a distant second from familial influences.

That is why players such as Jason Blake, Luke Ball, Chris Judd and Luke Power have to be applauded for being able to combine two full time careers or play football and study part time as it would certainly be a tough job to complete both well.

They will not grow old, as those from more northern States grow old.
For them it will always be three-quarter-time, with the scores level
and the wind advantage in the final term.

Will they test the other clubs or just the Filth and Richmond?

Personally I think it is saying more about our education system - from what I have heard they are missing basic's that you need from primary school age - sad really.

The days when palyers were doctors, teachers, bank tellers and coppers have long gone because they have to devote all of their time to playing senior football often at the expense of an education.

Mind you they seem to be pretty good at working out the betting odds.

I have always said that you don't need to have brains to be a footballer. Sounds like the trend is continuing!

I've been saying for years they're bred for size and speed, not brains.

I'm studying primary teaching, there's probably a few I could teach
