Thanks to Baker for many years of valuable service. And Gardiner for being a more than handy pick up, that mark against Geelong a few years ago is in St Kilda folklore up there with the Troy Schwarze goal.

If true about McQualter, a real shame - at the height of St Kilda's dominance in 2009 he was a crucial part of the forward line. Probably the first defensive forward of his kind, and always good for a goal a game. He and Eddy did give their all for the club.

When was the last time (apart from R. Harvey) that one of our long serving players was farewelled properly? Should have given Bakes a proper farewell at some point in the year. Ross's lack of sentiment has sucked this club dry which is a shame.

Really sad to not get to say a proper goodbye to bakes. that's two of our special trio gone now (baker, max, and milne) and neither got a proper sendoff.
that's modern footy i guess.

all the best bakes.

its a sign of the times for the game i think.
cant afford to risk it- it might cost a sponsor or something according to a piechart.

I bought a shirt from Target once.
It had a hard tag on it too.

I know how Dal feels.

I hope Blake follows their lead.
3 years ago I bagged Blake heaped on his mistakes and poor marking. He turned this around although was never in the top 10. His experience will be sought going forward. There will be times he will have a special job. Tonight it should have been Goodes. He played well tonight.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

Thanks boys, sounded like the speech from Ross was quite moving, said that Bakes was an example of someone who got the absolute best out of himself.

Also used it to send a message, saying Roo, Milne, Fisher, Dempster all give all they can, other people need to lift and not leave it to a few.

All the best for the future Michael and Steven, I love that you've been a part of the Saints.

Bakes is a star. Takes em all on, no matter the size :)

Gardiner's story has also been inspirational. Turned his life around after an embarrassing exit for the Eagles and has featured prominently in our recent successes.

Sad to see the last of Bakes, but no doubt his time has come. Gardiner was a good player for us, and on last weeks performance I felt he could have gone around again next season.

On Dawson, put Jones, Gram, Ray in that category as well. How can we expect to do well with so many players who cant kick in the team. Time to prune a few.

A wonderful warhorse Stevey Baker. He has given our club so much. I will sum it up better at a later time, but thanks for everything Bakes!

Likewise Gardi, Mini and Eddy. Thank you for giving your all to the St Kilda Football Club.

Absolute champs, particularly Bakes, will be much missed around the rooms.

Personally a very sad night for St Kilda. Thanks to Bakes for being a great St Kilda player, I would think he knows how much Saints people love. To Gardy, also thankyou. Love Eddy, sadly for him and McQualter who also did his best, not quite up to it. More to follow Im sure. Time to rebuild. Feel as flat as a tack. :(

End of an era. Bakes and MG have been terrific servants of the club.

I hope so, I like the kid, he has a big body that may help the kids ease into footy.

Definitely sad to see them go.

Loved watching Bakes' determination, best displayed by his efforts in a losing cause in the 2009 GF and his winning of the 2005 B&F. Definitely a player that got everything out of his ability. Great servant, will definitely be missed.

Gardiner may not be able to claim that he got everything out of his ability while wearing blue and gold but was definitely a gallant servant of our club after we gave him a lifeline.

Eddy and McQualter while neither were going to win brownlows or b&f's they did give their very all for our club.

I wish them all the very best in their post AFL lives.

Life is very short and there's no time for fussing and fighting my friends.
