Are you sure that he did not?

This year game totals are:

Ben: 53
Geary: 52
Armo: 50
Gamble: 35
Eddy 33:
Steven 30

Then a number of younger players with 9 or less.

With Zac on 77 and Gwilt on 82 I would suspect that fairly often the Saints would have had 4 players with 50 or less.

Now not saying tat we should not have over the three years developed a few more kids...but I just do not think the started goal is that high a bar.
If you go back and have a look at the selected teams you will soon realize that Lyon never even got close to this idea. What he did to Walsh and Stanley in 2011 and Armitage and Steven in 2010 was disgraceful. The only reason why Armo and Steven finally got a decent run this year was because of injuries and poor form.

Listen Helen, you've been told many times now that Stanley was injured nearly all year.

I know you've told us all that he is the type of character that thrives on the big stage, but he wasn't even close to knocking down the door this year

I think the issue is not that kids weren't played this year, it's that they weren't played in 08, 09 and this year.

Having said that, them getting games this year may well be a catalyst for something great in 2011.

What is your problem SaintPav? There is nothing wrong with my post. It's just an opinion that I am sure a lot of St kilda supporters agree with. If you don't agree with this opinion thats fine.

True, but they also would certainly have had Menzel in there as well, had he not done his knee a couple of weeks ago. And Vardy was in West's spot until he got injured.
Scott spoke about this last night on "On The Couch" and said the "4 under 50 games each week" thing was a goal, but not a hard and fast rule. But it was still a gutsy pre-season goal, for someone that was also hoping to win the flag. He showed how to have one eye on the present and also develop your list for the future.
What was also gutsy was the way they rotated their team on just about a weekly basis, which was also a plan all along. Anytime any of us has suggested anything along these lines in the past couple of years, for us, we've been ridiculed by the self appointed "sages" on here, who have told us things like "you don't change a winning team", as if there's only one way to skin a cat. Well, their theory has just been blown out of the water, if they thought it was the only way to be successful, as they also reported last night that Geelong made an average of 3.6 changes per week this season. Despite winning 22 of their 25 games. Most of them not caused by injury or suspension. So, despite Collingwood having the extra fitness and endurance from their high altitute training, they were able to run out the game far better and looked like they could just keep going and going.
Very well played Scott. Hopefully some on here with closed minds will learn something from the way they went about things.

Not correct and can be backed up by people who go to training.
To the one open session per week?

Trust me Nate 40 minutes is being generous the analytics I have speaks to an average of 37 minutes for non senior list players

Well one open session already has the 40 minutes covered and then they also train one other day a week on a normal 7 day break. And who are you counting anyway. Is Cripps included, ledger, Walsh? It isnt right.

So last year everyone had to go to Arizona to be successful.
This year everyone has to make 3.6 changes a week, to play the young kids, and go to Arizona.

I'll be happy if they just learn to kick straight.

Yeah but Geelong won the flag.

They may have done their high altitude training at the You Yangs

And Seafords highest point is 21 metres.

No wonder "the players aren't happy".

but trends change ... Scott did well with his role in getting the kid through but its not a 100% full proof plan playing the kids as shown with Freo and GC .. geelong got the ballance dead on and good luck for them but its a horses for courses approach ... what they do isnt always going to work for us

Hey st_Trav_ofWA, you completely missed the point. This Horses for courses as you put it is utter crap. What Chris Scott has demostrated with this idea is that he had the balls to introduce something and stick to it. He took a chance whereas Toss Lying never took a chance. He was ultra conservative to the extreme which has left our club in a mess with no youngsters coming through.

They will not grow old, as those from more northern States grow old.
For them it will always be three-quarter-time, with the scores level
and the wind advantage in the final term.

I suggest that if we were to pick our best 22 at this stage, with everyone on our list fit, that Cripps for one would probably make the team.
