The only mistake batteye made was the default setting of prosilver red.

Once the default is made to blue or another better colour, it's a huge improvement and well done.

The blue colour is better by far.

Theres a change font size button on the top right hand side of the page (next to print etc). It has 3 options. Seems to help. I cant see it on the main page though.

Does this board have a white font on black back ground option?

battye is awaiting any board style options people come up with, I lersonally prefer black on white but white on black is some people preferance,

see link in other thread.

thanks for pointing out the font- print and I notice email which will be handy.

So far I haven't had it lock up like it used to all the time, no critical errors, so if it doesn't do that long term = win

You can delete posts again.
Yep. Agreed. The main thing I want is to be able to reliably read other people's views, without the thing crashing or reposting the same thing 2 or 3 times. The other things (ignore etc.) are a welcome bonus.

errr K
those smilies were on the last format peoeple just didnt see them as you had to click on the 'more smilies' bit, and they were the two extra

and it looks nothing like Vanilla
im on a site using the vanilla based soft ware and it looks better

free template
basic hosting
prob worth 150 200 bucks a year at most

you should all be asking what the total was that was collected, how much this costs a year and then how many years the site is locked in for
after all
you lot (that donated) paid for it

Have to say it's more teal

Still have no idea why though....

:)

Lots of posters 'ignoring' each other with little success over the years, I think it's about time SS had that function...that way if they don't officially ignore each other and end those tedious argument threads (you know the ones I mean) then I can ignore them.

Why would you want to ignore anyone?

If some old codger alleged that you blew goats in your spare time, wouldn't you want to know?
After all, an undenied statement quickly becomes a truth.

Links no longer create new window (as the old Saintsational did) but go straight to link site in same window - meaning you are no longerin Saintsational. Can you change it so a link creates a new window? Thanks.

Problem with the ignore posters option is that I've posted something sensible for a change re transport in Adelaide and I assume I'm on many posters ignore list already!

Volume of traffic seems very low on the new forum but it could also be time of year related.

I reckon if anyone uses the ignore buttom they are the ones with problems not the people they want to ignore. How could people take what is written that seriously that they would want to ignore them.

The ignore button is amusing. If you put someone on iggy, and they say something radical.
Guess what?
Another poster will quote the ignored post  .
No ignoring that!

Over the course of the last week I've been trailing different VPS (virtual private server) packages because the first week is free. I started off with 2300MB of resources allocated to each server (web server and database server), and pushed it down to 300MB in the end. That is $15 (US) per server, per month. So $30/month. That's the lowest package. The webhost is called Dreamhost.

This is how our resources have been used:

Image

The top image is the web server, the bottom image is the database server. To summarise, we're only using about a third of our resources so to upgrade to a higher package would be excessive. The webhosting is done month-by-month - that means that if traffic rises once the season starts and the resource usage rises with it, the resource allowance can be raised (we only pay for what is used, essentially).

Bandwidth (a different measure) doesn't affect the cost, but if it interests anyone there's been 1.8GB this week, so we'd be looking at just under 8GB per month and probably more during the season.

I don't know exactly how much was donated in total (Mr Magic said $661 on Jan 3), but I think whatever the final amount is will be suitable for roughly 2 years. Again, it depends on the resource allocation and whether it's required to be raised during high traffic periods. Thanks to everyone who donated.

I got the "Foes" thing working - just with two ("The two") names to start with.
That should be a HUGE improvement for the readability of the site.

Just have to beg others not to quote them!!!!!!!!

So it works?

So what happens if they say something in a thread, or when someone quotes them...you get a bunch of xxxxxxxx or simply nothing?

When it says memory it's talking about RAM - not disk space - and the amount of RAM being used at any given time does fluctuate.

I would have thought the opposite. If you ignore someone, you don't take them seriously.
