Sippos and simpkin

Post: # 1236836Post saintwalsh »

Amazing games by sipposs and simpkin tonight. Simpkin should play in every game from now on he shows so much courage and throws himself in at all contests. He also knows when to rush a behind which is a amazing trait for such a young player. Sipposs played a role tonight that was beyond his years, his kicking is always accurate and he just knows where to kick it. Great vision for such a young player. Great game guys keep the good work up.

Both were fantastic.
Simpkin is Mr Reliable and Courageous.
Sipposs has a touch of class.

Ironically, Stanley and Blake injuries probably resulted in their inclusions....

What was it you said about 'through crisis....' Eastern?

Siposs was very good.
He has stepped up this year...and physically is a bigger unit.

Blake = Simpkin = perfect replacement and Blake's heir

Stanley = Wilkes = Stanaly is better, but Wilkes showed that in the right position is very handy. A big 3 of Roo, Wilkes and Stanley may be a better balance than Roo, Kois and Stanley

BJ = Siposs While BJ is a class above on his day, Siposs is a beautiful kick and can play the BJ role = setting up play, but also drifting forward to kick goals.

The great thing about Arryn is that he gives us what we have lacked for years - a legitimate goal kicking running player, and combined with his height makes him a very dangerous customer. Gun!

Sippos and Simpkin definately deserve their spots, I personally think Blakes days are numbered, best back 6 we have had this year IMO. BJ comes in for Gram or Ray in a weeks time. If Saad doesn't come up then Milera or the other emergency from today the first gamer I guess!

Maybe this year?

Sippos is going to be an absolute champion player.

He's one of those players who is just so damaging with his possessions.

Doesn't need to get a heap of the ball to be effective.

As for Simpkin... s***s on zac from a great height.

Big fan of these two!
Simpkin - gives his all every week, every contest. Very smart defender, who is as hard as you will find.
Siposs - Great user of the ball. Really makes some great decisions. Kicks it to some great spots. Will be a star. (Will re-sign, LOVES the Saints, as does All his family. Not going anywhere)

Unusual names are always tricky. That's until they've played 50 odd games. We will learn!

I was listening to SEN just before, and Finey stated that he thought we would have played better last week, if Sippos, Simpkin, and CJ had played. That we lost the match at selection.

we selected a fast and quick side but then wanted to slow it down WTF!!!!!

You are very wrong about Gram. He is a great player and should have been a Norm Smith medalist too. I'm not knocking Ray but Gram definitely has him covered.

Both these players are developing very well.
Simpkin has shown courage and "hunger" to succeed. In his first few games I was concerned about his disposal as he turned it over a few times. I certainly can't remember him doing this in his more recent games so we look forward to his continuing improvement. We still need a ~195cm backman for the monsters though!
Sipposs has "muscled up" since last year (& probably more to come) and is now a more committed tackler than he was last year.
He is also a much better "field kicker" than I thought he was, as was evidenced on Saturday night (again). The first write-ups on him were that he was a "dead-eye dick" shot for goal and while he hasn't quite got it down "pat" at the AFL level yet, I'm sure he'll get this back with some more time on the field. He is up there with Dal, BJ and Gwilt as one of our best kicking players.
He is now getting a lot more of the ball in recent weeks, and, like Stanley, he does a lot of intelligent tapping the ball out to a player in a better position. I am hoping that with another pre-season under his belt he can build his tank even further to really "break out" next year to help re-juvenate our forward structure with Stanley and, hopefully Markworth. Fingers crossed on all of them.

Simpkin looks like a real pro to me. Fearless and hard and definitely not the sort of opponent you would choose to play on.

Siposs looks a natural forward - I hear he kicked 100 in juniors - and IMO should be developed as our next full forward, though Wilkes may have something to say about that.

i think he's buggered a lot of the time at the moment which probably doesn't help his goal-kicking. he'll need another couple of years to really build up a big tank but if he does, he could be anything...

Whilst I think BOTH Siposs & Simkin will be good players for the club I can't help but wish that they were both about 5-6cm taller !!

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

Been a while since I've been excited about some of our youth.

Clearly bias but I can't help but think Siposs has the potential to be a very very good player.

Simpkin is a gem, going to be one of those super reliable guys who does the team thing every time, not too sure on his cieling, which is exciting.
