I'm not going to pretend I know anything other than...

Tomy Lee is a great footballers name

and

Our club has a decided WA flavour about it

If we get enough players from WA we may get salary cap relief.

When will some "keyboard idiots" realise that we have traded pick 12 for Tom Lee AND PICK 24 and PICK 43

Agreed, although it would be good if we could get Hickey a little cheaper - especially if they are actually into Raph. Would like to be able to hang onto pick 24. Be good to have two picks in the top 25 for a change.

Well he is 2 inches taller than Jason Blake. Anyway if we get Hickey he wont need to be used as a 2nd ruckman.

That is true but where the hell does Hickey play when not rucking. That has always been my issue on the second ruckman in a side.

I don't get it either, so I started another thread about it

I wouldn't think Hickey would be in our starting 22.

He would be playing most of the year in the VFL unless McEvoy or Stanley get injured. He has the ability to play forward, but we won't be playing McEvoy, Stanley and Hickey in the same team.

If thats the case surely using Pick 24 would be too much for him?

ok ok fair enough. they are 2 decent picks coming our way.

I dont even understand why GWS had rights to him in this first place anyway?

Cos he was previously listed with an AFL club (Crows). GWS have the rights to up to 10 pre-listed AFL players.

Wow!

70 goals in the WAFL this year. So he is ready to go.

We now have some key forward depth - Riewoldt, Kosi, Wilkes, Stanley, Lee, Markworth

And we have another pick to use as trade bait for eg Mitch Brown or Hickey.

Very smart trading.

Is that the reason? Why did we get Saad and Milera then?

I think Markworth will be a mid-fielder and Kosi could be the new team bus driver ? Has to earn his $400k somehow.

Yeah, but pick 12? Maybe our second round draft pick and also involving a swap of picks, maybe..
Yes while Lee sounds like a great pick-up - it seems a high price to pay doesn't it? Maybe they will put DP 24 & 43 to good use in trades or draft selections.....

I believe it was because they had previously nominated for the draft and not been picked up. There are some weird rules for GWS by the AFL

Great get I think, Harry Taylor was pick at this position in the draft at the same age by Geelong and look how his turned out. Likely trade another one of those picks for hickey , Stevens. We are doing a good job filling the age bracket. Who's to same pick 12 was gonna be a star, just ask Melbourne , at least now we have 3 different opportunitys

Looks like it's open slather for GWS pre-listing players then - seems like they have the rights to anyone not AFL listed !!

Bottomless pit, much like their (and GC) 'salary cap'

Not sure I am convinced trading 12 was smart. But if we did something like this...

24 for Jacobs or...

24 & Cripps for Stevens and Brown...then

43 for Hickey... it starts sounding great. So pick 12 & Ray for Hickey, Brown, Lee and Stevens is a lot better than pick 12 for Caddy.

Dunno, just trying to see the positive side of this trade as I'm still in a bit of shock to be honest (considering he was pick 60 & delisted & not picked up last year)...
