Not saying you're doing it Gershwin but the whining about teacher's holidays as always perplexed me.

School holidays are part of the job description, if people want 12 weeks off each year then go & do a 4 year teaching degree.

My wife was a teacher before becoming a Uni academic in Teacher Education (4 weeks annual leave). She says now that her holidays are excessive compared with other professions. Many of our friends are teachers and they vary in commitment like any other professionals.
Not sure that 12 weeks off is part of their job description but it is certainly part of their work conditions and probably out-dated.
Don't wish to offend teachers out there - their's is an important and important profession but I'm jealous of the long holidays.

As for footballers - gee they have it easy!

Well, do as the previous poster advised. That is, retrain to be a teacher (3 or 4 year degree) and enjoy the glorious benefits of the holidays. It's that simple.

A good teacher is worth their weight in gold - a bad teacher is about as useful as a baby sitter (maybe less) I don'ty reckon you truly appreciate them until you have kids. As in all professions, there are good and bad. The holidays are factored into their wages I think. ie they receive their annual 4 weeks like everyone else - and the extra 8 weeks is taken out of their pay over the course of the year. I think that's right, maybe an actual teacher can jump on here and clarify

I have 3 daughters, one of which has just finished teaching degree -the others have been working since they were 18
Guess which one will be earning the least? HINT lots of holidays!

hard to imagine BJ earning 10 times what a teacher earns in one year,
and thus where he can retire in 4 years - it would take a teacher 40 years to earn that amount...


anyone able to find me a teacher who does not work over holidays- as I once said to some young sainters- who prepareas for that work on the first day of school
