Where's Simpkin?

Hi Sainters,
Am happy with how things are looking so far - lots of competition for spots and many young players putting in.
One thing that concerns me, though, is that Simpkin seems to be completely invisible.
Is there any reason for this?
I thought he was a real "find" for us last year and played some mature, defensive footy.
I presume he must be injured, but I haven't heard or read anything about this.
Anybody know - where's Simpkin?

He will play this week for either the Saints or Sandy. Apparently he was injured.

Do you know what his injury was/is?

Head too big; had operation over summer to shrink it

You're probably right Dr S - he certainly regularly had his head bandaged up.....maybe too much pressure build up.

Didn't he have shin splints a few years ago? If so, they might be taking a conservative approach with him !!

His shin splints are fine. He hurt himself at training a few weeks ago. He is good to go now.

His shin splints are fine. He hurt himself at training a few weeks ago. He is good to go now.

according to saints.com he:

"Pre-season surgery to correct long-standing shin problems leaves Simpkin primed for another big season"

I am not sure if this is from last year, but if not could explain his absence.... if it is this pre-season, he may be primed for a huge one... similar to how steven completely changed after his surgery

No shin splint surgery pre 2013. That is obviously from last year. Minor injury that the club is being conservative with due to his importance to our defense for the year ahead.

fair enough, just seems that every other bio they have talks about the upcoming season as 2013, guess they dropped the ball with simpkin's...
