2013 Guernseys.... WTF?

Post: # 1308922Post GrumpyOne »

Normal and Clash OK, but the Heritage and Training are absolute shockers.

What were they thinking?

Looks like Bumblers and Filth cast-offs.

Agree with the training top, but the Heritage one is the actual style we orginally had 140 years ago except the team wore a white scarf to resemble red black and white...

Who cares what they train in. Years ago players used to wear a mish mash of opposition jumpers to training.

If we are getting a NEW MAJOR SPONSOR as has been mooted, these will all be irrelevant !!

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

My suspicion comes from the club stating that "Players Media Polos" were advertised as Media Polos, Nov-Mar !!

Yeah the new sponsor could be just a shirt sponsor for this year and then guernsey next?

Your suspicion is unfounded. The post-March media polo is out...is red on the front rather than the grey/blue...you can buy it at the merch shop :-)

I don't care what they wear at training either, but the thing is, they are trying to sell the training jumper to us.

Seriously, they would be lucky to sell about three of those monstrosities. The mark-up on merchandise is huge, and a decent design would bring revenue to the club. The fact that they are out of ideas is why they have just held a competition to design the NAB cup jumper for next year. Not only will this yield a design for the preseason, but 500+ other unsuccessful entries all of which have assigned IP to the club (as required in the terms and conditions). That's ten years worth of decent ideas for training jumpers - for free - right there.

Anyone who ever is upset by a jumper, we could always have this...

Is it just me, or are we missing a dash of red in the training jumper?

I'm not concerned about what we train in (though snowdelisaint's point about its marketability is spot on) but I do care -- A LOT! -- about what we play in.

The normal jumper is terrific, because it's ..... normal. Traditional St Kilda, but still with a quietly evolving, contemporary feel about it.

The clash jumper I don't much like -- the white band across it costs it most of its iconic power -- but it's still miles better than many we've suffered in the last decade.

The heritage jumper is hardly recognisable as St Kilda's. But that's OK as a once-off (as long as it's an authentic reflection of our actual heritage). I think the white bands at the neck and sleeves could have been a bit wider perhaps -- just for some more white with the r+b. They look OK on Gwilty, but just imagine a pastey critter like Tommy Lee in it -- the white will totally disappear. Lucky Brendan Goddard won't have to play in it -- on him it would just look pure black and red!
Hold on, he's achieved that already.

On the contrary, the pasty critter becomes the white of the outfit

every team appear to be ( or their uniform suppliers) going for odd colours for training- Pies have been in Light blue and red- S2ans are in green and black, bombers in lime green..

sales move... atleast the black and white camo style will fit with our NZ connection.

Makes us look a bit........Collingwood, that's all. Happy to play in tutti-fruiti colours, as long as we don't look like the filth!
