If Jack was a cleaner footballer, he would be A Grade already and ability to go elite. As it is, he must improve areas of his game. Has tools, no one would deny that.

I think he may have been in the 30's. I seem to recall he was young enough to be eligible to play another season in the under 18's and hte feeling at the time was that if he did that he'd be a potential top ten pick the following year. In hinsight a good pick.

He's got to be the fittest midfielder at St Kilda and he is working harder than anyone. His disposal has been much improved in the past 2-3 weeks. If he can clean it up just a little more he will be an absolute gun.

And back then you could only tke one 17 year old. Most were leaving them for the later picks.

That rule was removed by 2007. If it was still in then someone should report WCE to the AFL. They selected Brad Ebert, Tony Notte and Scott Selwood in 2007. All of them are 1990 births. That means they were 17yo in 2007.

I said at the start of the season for Steven to move from a B level player to A grade he needs to start having 30+ touches. His disposal isn't elite but it's at least average, probably above, around the Hayes and Boyd level IMO. I believe this game will be the breakout game he needed to have in order to gain confidence and become A grade. And I reckon he's running 2nd in the Best and Fairest, only behind the great man.

I made the call a year ago to my workmates that Jack Steven would win a brownlow...... I'm having great pleasure reminding them every time he has a good game now. The great thing is, its becoming a regular occurence. Do I REALLY believe he can win a brownlow? Probably not.... but gee he is turning into a ripper

Got a rubbish 'do

My 7yo boy watched him play in his i think first game against Geelong when he kicked a few goals and has got the 3 on his jumper plays number 3 in under 9s and has now got that s*** hair cut to match. Just as well he came good it cost me a replacement jumper from his Rooey one that still fits.

Ablett like stats and I think Ablett wasn't looking like being as good at the same stage- my memory is pretty bad though.
