SACK WATTERS!

Post: # 1343811Post saintspremiers »

Only joking!

I'll give him until the end of his contract ie. 2014.

But he's got me worried by his NFI selections this week and several other rounds.

/rant over. Feel better now!

Ferg was thrown to the wolves and then given 2 quarters, then subbed, then dropped. How do you reckon his confidence is at the moment.

Once we have cemented 18th or 17th ill expect watters to start structuring the team as he means to go forward in 2014. So maybe our last 4 or 5 games will give the fans some hope u but in the mean time grin and bare it.

I don't think we can take any notice at all of what happens at VFL as the gulf between it and AFL is way to massive !!

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

It's a massive problem.

But how do other teams develop their players so much better than ours? Or are we just not recruiting wisely enough??
(I'm talking the last 3 drafts - it's a given prior to that it was totally pathetic).

IMO we just don't have the right people at the club to make us a powerhouse .
Or really, have we ever been one.
Coll,Ess,Haw, etc just seem to get it right over and over

I'm hoping we win this week and the board give sw full licence to focus on development.

Seems like we are trying to serve two competing aims right now which ain't working.

Board should guarantee sw his job for the next 18 'months and let him build a new team for 2015 starting now.

What we need is to get a better senior assistant. Laidley clearly isnt cutting it. I cant see why we cant pick up Gary Ayres as senior assistant.

Fair call.

Unless SW has a termination clause similar to Lyon, we'd have to pay him out his contract if sacked early anyway.

Best statement I've heard on here for a long time but most like to bury there heads in the sand and slam this sort of talk.

IMO we have probably been up in there (in the top eight) more than any other side in the last 25 years but don't know how to finish.

Other clubs come up win a flag then go right down then rebuild back up to win another flag and we just keep battling it out with them all in the finals.

People will respond about one kick here or there would have changed our fortune but all clubs have had those as well but most still also managed to find a way.

For how good our lists have been since the late eighties and all the opportunities we've had (as I said probably more than any other side) it has to be more than just a coincidence or bad luck.

Why the hell would we sack him at this point anyway?
I think a lot of people have held on to their rosé coloured glasses too long.

And the argument about the powerhouses of the AFL, can someone remind me where Coll, Ess, Blues, Rich, WCE all finished between 2005-2010?

At one stage during this time each of those clubs finished bottom 4 or worse, turned around for them didnt it? And that all happened after a period of particular dominance.

Give Watters and the club time FFS.

NB all except Rich ;)

I agree about SW but your 5 year record means little. Lets look at the big picture.

Since 1988

Collingwood 2 flags
Essendon 2 flags
Hawthorn 4 flags
West Coast 3 flags
Carlton 1 flag
Brisbane 3 flags
Adelaide 2 flags
Port Adelaide 1 flag
North Melbourne 2 flags
Sydney 2 flags
Geelong 3 flags

Now I don't know the record but I am sure we have been in the finals far more than all these teams over that time and this is what frustrates me...
