Lee

Post: # 1376665Post Con Gorozidis »

I agree with the commentators on this.

Lee needs to sacrifice some endurance and just focus on strength and explosive efforts.
No point making 20 contests but just not quite winning any.
Hes better off making only 10 contests - but winning 7 of them and kicking 3 goals per game.

AFL is a hard business and you cant just be a 'good' all round player that is a master of nothing in particular- you need to specialise and excel in at least one area. There are too many good players out there .

His got himself to plenty of contests but just not clunking the marks. It doesn't bother Ray and he generally marks against any opponent.

Well beaten today, but I see something there. Just needs to start holding those opportunities.

He needs some pace though.

You think he's slow? It's kind of hard to judge when the ball is coming in so infrequently and delivery is so haphazard.

I think he is very slow. Doesnt mean he cant play. Just has to lead more.

He's kind of in no mans land at the moment - not playing like a lead up player but not big enough to be a power forward. He does have a beautiful pure leap at the football and when extends his arms is hard to beat. They didn't stick today.

does need to lead more, but early days for this young man yet... do think he could bulk up a bit as well. if they have a best kicking action in the AFL he better win it... god it's a great action. (text book)

Particularly when the contested grabs aren't sticking. It's a key forward's bread and butter. You are often a good judge, so it is a worry if you think he is very slow.

Why does he need to sacrifice endurance to be more 'explosive'?

It's true that he dropped a couple that he should have taken today, but he would've taken a few more than he did if the delivery was a bit better to. Look at the service guys like Jesse White were getting at the other end.

But he also had the pace to get spread on his opponent. Lee lacks that at the moment.

Currently he's the least of our concerns. Better delivery from the midfield might help

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Any chance his dodgy Achilles may be inhibiting his speed off the mark? Not sure. But what is being said is correct. He leads plenty but does not have sufficient initial acceleration to be as damaging as he otherwise would be.

I think he just needs a bigger tank that a few preseasons will give him. Just see him blowing a lot.

He's a "work in progress" like a few others, but shows plenty of promise.

He aint slow
Has a 2.9 for his 20m sprint
Just needs to be 10 -20% stronger. Gets bumped off his line a little too often.

I dont care if he ran 2 exactly. he is slow at reading where the ball is going. he doesnt put a distance between himself and his opponant. Hopefully that will happen but at the moment that is his biggest weakness.

Got chopped and pushed under the ball and no frees- a high profile forward would have got 3 free kicks at least.

Played on Rampe for most of the day. Smaller player with similar experience. Beaten pointless unfortunately.

Sounds a lot like what was discussed during the telecast on the TV, they were joking that Lee needs a few tricks, then went on to say either some explosive pace to get a break on his opponent or
some extra strength to compete body on body.

Maybe Bruce and co talk to P66 ?

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Timmy Watson said he kicks for goal like he is auditioning for a Scanlens footy card.

He needs to do much more. At the moment we get 1 qtr a match from Maister when he plays but only about 10-15 minutes from Lee.

As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
