AFL issue the punishment.
WADA can appeal if they believe the penalty is too light.
ie they appealed a 7 month ban on a VFL player, and it then went up to 2 years.

I suspected as much (ie) that the AFL will decide on education or punishment. In Saad's case I hope they consider the liklihood that Saad made one isolated unconscious decision that has reached nightmare proportions. Ahmed is from what i hear a pparticularly upstanding young guy and has been commended for a lot of his work with multi-culturalism. There is enormous upside to Ahmed aside from the footy. I hope to heck the afl see him in an entirely different light to the essendon saga.
I believe the huge difference in premeditation in the essendon case verses the one act of clumsiness in Ahmed's case should see him back playing a.s.a.p.

Cilic is actually challenging the ban and wants it lessened. It could be that Saad doesn't actually miss that much footy maybe half a season or something. The could sit a personal trainer and send guys out to kick and train with him to keep him fit and show him videos.

Saad’s legal team has been working feverishly on his defence and are set to argue their client was guilty only of being naive and had never set out to cheat the system.
The Saad camp doesn’t blame Viking Protein and instead will question the advantage gained by drinking it, arguing its stimulant levels are no higher than caffeine.
Any suspension Saad receives will be backdated to the start of his provisional suspension, August 20.

Now we start the guessing game. S6 substance that is at the lower end of the scale. Appears to be a single act of stupidity. My guess: 8 weeks. 3 weeks already served means he will miss the first 5 games in 2014. The club & Ahmed would be more than happy with that outcome !!

I think we should get rid of riewoldt for his photos, Gilbert enough said, jack Steven, Milney, Dal, Fisher, Armo, CJ etc. Obviously that would be pretty easy to sack someone for under employment law. Stupidity would be a reason to sack most Aussies.
His best bet would be to try to get some regular training sessions in with some of the VFL guys who are in the same boat.
But who knows, he might have some better quality training partners by next year.
