Who do you want @ pick 17 ....?

Post: # 1403170Post Middo »

With the top 3 pick coming down to a couple of players like Aish & Kelly I've been thinking about who might slip down to 17 and hoping Luke Dunstan is waiting for us @17 ....Big bodied ready to go mid.
I know it's easy to say after the event who we could have and should have picked up but I'm going now and hope it's Dunstan cause this kid will deliver , not waiting till a couple of years down the track ...
Who's your smokey ...??

I reckon Trent Dumont has pushed himself up the order with solid performances in the Sanfl finals series. Played as a stron bodied inside mid that can also find the ball in space. Has really grown on me. I'd be very happy to get him with 17 or 18.

Dumont or Acres for me as they are most likely to go around that spot. Obviously if Dals cousin or Sheed slides then we'd be all over it. No chance of getting Freeman, but if he was available we'd be laughin. I reckon Hartung will be in the 20s and teens are too early for him, plus I don't think he'd want to come to us while CJ is still on the list.

Maybe we should go for Darcy Gardiner at 17. He could be the answer at fullback in the future. Failing that, my preference in order would be Nat Freeman, Bontempelli, Matt Crouch, Ben Lennon, Kade Kolodjni from Tassy, Dumont, Acres, Duncan or Salem. Surely one of them will still be around at 17.

And if we do get another pick from Hawthorn just after 17, then I think we should draft Garlett.
By then we've already covered ourselves by picking two quality mids, so safe to take a punt on a guy that could be anything - or nothing.

There's a chance each of the last four will be around at 17, but just about 0% chance of the first 5.

Gardiner is interesting, definitely a possibility that he's still there at that pick. Only problem is that he's one of those 192 types, if he was 197 he would be top 10.

Starting to hear that Aish is sliding and it's looking like 1.Boyd, 2.Kelly, 3.Billings, 4.Sharenberg is the top 4. Aish is a chance to fall out of the top 5 due to the fact that he's a bit too outside.

I think Billings at 3 is a good selection and then hopefully 2 of Acres, Dunstan, Durmont, Taylor, Jones at 18 & 19.

Firstly its 18 and its all guess work from us at that pick unless we allpicked Ben and Armo at around pick 9. Who knows who it will be but a hundred gamer is a bunus.

Asking who would you like at that pick not about guessing who the club is going to pick ..??
And while we are picking out mistakes only going off the AFL draft picks as it stands now not before compo picks ..

Ps It's Bonus ....

Who said any pick was a mistake? I actually dont get the point of anything you said. Its pick 18. No point in even mentioning it as pick 17. And if we can get christain Salem ir nathan Freeman at anywhere nesr that pick I would do it. Thats based on only seeing one club play footy but compared to other people Im not even sure they have seen many if any play.

Would be nice to land a top 10 talent that slides like Grundy did last year with our 2nd pick.

Im not against picking Garlett - but not with one of our top 20 picks.

Too soon?

Top 17, off the top of my head would be Freeman, Boyd, Acres, Taylor, Bontempelli, Kade K, Billings, Kelly, Dumont, Sheed, Gardiner, Salem, Crouch, Lennon, Scharenberg, Dunston & McDonald.

There will probably be players taken before these guys, like McCarthy, Cripps or Marsh - a few bolters like Thurlow and Broomhead last year, so that means a couple of those guys will be available at our picks.

Its pretty exciting if you ask me to get our hands on these picks - as to be honest, the names available in the mid to late 20s don't fill me with half of the amount of confidence that those top 17 do!

If that's your top 17, I'd take Aish!

I'm worried about selecting a WA boy after cripps jumped ship. Although we need to go for best available regardless

Hoping that Crouch is available at 17. Would slot straight into our midfield. If he's gone, hopefully Dumont is available.
