Sam Landsberger's draft score

Post: # 1420861Post SaintPav »

I can't find his table but Sam Landsberger from the HS rated Hawks and Dogs higher than us in how we did in the draft.

I think they both got a 9 each or something like that and we scored 8.

dumb!

The whole draft ranking is ridiculous, None of them have played a game yet for their clubs. As for Sam Hamburger, really, what do you expect from him? Quality insight. Would rather ask my 18 month old daughter for an AFL opinion

I feel both papers have an agenda at the moment and its the St Kilda football club.. They gave us a C+ for the trade period and now a 8 for the draft when they gave the bulldogs a 9 and they picked up a guy with the 4th pick who is considered by many not ready for senior footy.. Odd

this page has the Champion data ranking- on right side bottom , under the landsberger and clarke phantom

- which would actually suggest we got Dunstan for a steal

and Acres in the phantom draft would have been gone before our pick

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl/draft-2013

the actual draft is on left side

I know most are hesitant to head over there. But Knightmare provides one of the best Phantom Drafts on BigFooty every year. He had all 3 of our picks in his top 14 (top 12 if you don't include Jack Martin and Jesse Hogan) as well as Acres at #2.

I'd take his word over some dopey HS writer looking for views and to appease Collingwood supporters - of which Knightmare himself is one.

WB get a high mark for being risky. The players StKilda got are all at least performed juniors over a extended period.

He actually marked Hawthorn 9.5. It's just an opinion and doesn't mean much.

Knightmare on BigFooty said we were the winners of the draft. Mostly because he's dead keen on Acres.

Everyone has a different opinion and we should be cool with whatever the press thinks - proof will be in the pudding.

Key word here is opinion.

Some forumites seem to have interpreted the article as the authors believing they are fatctually correct

Agree.

I suppose my problem with this is that the news on TV and in the newspapers should be reporting the news, and not giving opinion pieces.
I want to know the news anf facts of what's happening in my state, country and the world. If you want someone's opinion watch ACA or buy a magazine, it doesn't belong in the NEWS!

We turned McEvoy, Dal Santo, pick 24, 41 & 77 into Bruce, Longer, Savage, Delaney, pick 18 (Dunstan) & pick 19 (Acres).

We always had pick 3, so take away the players lost/gained, before the draft we had 3, 24, 41 & 77, we went to the draft with 3, 18 & 19 as live picks.

Hawthorn on the other hand, turned Franklin, Savage, Ellis & pick 18 into pick McEvoy, 24 (Hartung) & 59 (rookie upgrade) - they always had pick 38(Garlett) & 56 (Sicily).

While that bloke only rated the draft, I've noticed quite a few ppl rating their trade period quite highly too. Looking at this, it shows just how well the saints played this trade/draft period. Both Hartung & Garlett are huge attitude risks and could both be massive busts.

This is fair enough - but his reasoning for the hawks doing so well??? They recruited Garlett. Hardly inspirational. In fact I fail to see why they did it. The guy has disciplinary issues (which is why he went in the 30's) and they already have Hill and Rioli AND Puopolo. They don't even really need him. My question: Why did they do so well in the draft again? Oh yeah, because they're Hawthorn and right now we're all sheep and bow down to whatever they do cos they just won the flag.

For mine he lost all credibility right there. He doesn't even explain or expand as to why he thinks clubs did so well in the draft. GWS recruited Boyd. Very likely a superstar, but they have Patton and Cameron. Not criticising GWS but it was hardly breathtaking genius by them - and in fact could come back to bite them on the arse.

Acres is a very exciting talent. He really could be anything. I laughed when I saw his list as it made very little sense. Adelaide and the Bombers faired not much worse than most and the better teams not much better. Collingwood did well as did the Hawks but Adelaide got a slider that was good for the picks they had but not anywhere near Collingwood.

Isn't Landsberger a Dogs supporter? Or did I make that up?

On paper it looks like the Pies did well.

Lost two good players (aged 27 & 28) but picked up 2 x top 10 picks plus Taylor Adams (pick 13)
