Here's hoping it's nothing major

So he's probably already had surgery a week ago - the players are going to be off for Christmas. This will affect him for like 3 days?

He needs a bit of luck so that he can get his AFL career up and running.

find a bit odd that even the papers are talking him up a fair bit after a good showing for a first year in the VFL and then a year off... (saints best 22 article in the HUN)
really hope all this faith is rewarded with the new Nat Fyfe !

I'm not expecting that to happen Mart.

Daniel is way smarter than those Effn'dum players.

Well, nothing has been decided yet on when he'll play... So the mid season guess is just that - a guess...

A new coach means everyone starts from scratch... Watters was a big rap for Daniel and was looking to give him a crack on a wing.... Sounds like Richo has him more as high leading forward.

The knee injury is unfortunate, but not very serious, a jarring of scar tissue which they have gone in and cleaned up... he'll be back to full training soon enough.

IMO :D

I am sure BM doesn't want my support however I think what he wrote was reasonable.

I didn't see anything dresses up as inside knowledge, rather just pretty obvious suppositions.

Markworth has had limited time at VFL level, is coming back from a major year long injury, and needs time to get going again.

I actually think mid season may be too early, but who kows what the coach thinks and what Markworths form will be.

I have seen very little of Markworth but what i have read is that he has some real potential. Also read he was working with Trevor Hendy (wasn't it) during the winter, so he may be over the confindence thing that comes with these type of injuries.

Mid season, late season, early season? Nobody really knows. Could kill it in be in by round five, could take time and we may not see him until 2015.

Lance or James??

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

Getting back to Markworth.......

I think this is the last year of his contract (?)
I'm looking forward to seeing him in the pre season games. Hopefully he has a good year, but he may start to feel the pressure if he can't find form or has another bad run with injury.

Has anyone seen him train lately - does he still have pace/agility?

Yeah would be nice to get some feedback from those who saw him during the most recent training.

please take your bickering elsewhere, this is a thread about Markworth's knee, not recruiting decisions of the past...

Form Markworths twitter a few days ago
"Unfortunate news about the knee Dan, hopefully you are back fit and firing soon. #gosaints"
"Daniel Markworth ‏@Danielmarkworth 19 Dec
@Dylan_2112 cheers mate, I will be back in no time"

Sounds pretty positive.

The papers have to talk up someone.

Secondly, it's a reflection of where our list is at - Delaney was also in that team. Why? Couldn't break into a fairly brittle Kangaroos back six. It's just where we're at.

Markworthy shows a lot of promise, mind you. Hopefully his fitness allows him to show that in the seniors.
