Changes against Blues
Geary will be replaced by Roberton.
Hickey will miss another 10 so Longer stays & grows in confidence.
Will Savage get another go?? Is Dunstan ready to come back? Who else Seb Ross ??

Re: Changes against Blues
I would guess there will be a few dropped this week
Geary and Gwilt injured.
Out Geary, Gwilt, Savage, Simpkin, Webster (rest)
In Roberton, Bruce, Milera, Siposs, Dunston
?
Was Bruce good today, and is Robertons ankle holding up ok?

Re: Changes against Blues
Out: Geary, Savage, Simpkin.
In: Shenton, Dunstan, Bruce.
We've seen that Richo doesnt make changes willy-nilly.
And if the players put in a performance like Saturday, I'd give them an opportunity to right the wrong. Use the players pride as motivation, and see if they have the "testicular fortitude" to respond. If they stink it up again, then swing the axe. This week is perfect too, because its Carlton. We jump them at the start, and they crack - they are under a hell of a lot more pressure than us.
The exception to this rule is Savage. He's had no shortage of opportunities, and shown nothing. His best game was in NZ, but his honeymoon period is well and truly over. He either doesnt want to be at St Kilda, or something else, but the difference between the youngster he was at Hawthorn, and the player he is at St Kilda, is massive. He needs to find some form at Sandy, show he actually wants to be involved in the seniors, then be considered for a recall.
I think dropping Bruce for Simpkin proved to be a mistake. Time to fix that this week.

Re: Changes against Blues
A bad team performance but it did highlight real weaknesses in the team, mainly midfield and forward line. The midfield didn't own the ball enough and fumbled too much, and we desperately need more forward options.
Out: Saunders, Acres, Weller, Gwilt(inj?), Geary(inj)

Re: Changes against Blues
A relative of mine who has contacts at Hawthorn said that Savage's topsy-turvy form at the Hawks was related to his on-again / off-again relationship with his girlfriend. I'm not sure if that is still the case.St Chris wrote: The exception to this rule is Savage. He's had no shortage of opportunities, and shown nothing. Re: Changes against Blues
I hope not too many changes are made. I believe the team from last week should be given a chance to redeem themselves on their home turf under the perfect conditions of Etihad. It's also a chance for the coaches to hold their nerve and really see what certain players are made of. A lot can be gained from seeing how much pride young players have and how determined they are to show last week was not representative of what they are capable of...speaking effort and hardness mostly.

Re: Changes against Blues
I'd like to see Siposs, Ross, Milera, Dunstan, Shenton and "The Do" come in. Out; Geary (inj), Gwilt, Savage, Saunders, Jones, ?Weller (Ross got dumped after 1 x lacklustre showing, so I figure its reasonable). I think Newnes and Webster just about warrant being dropped, but would rather see the above changes first.
Looking forward to a fit Tom Lee attack the second half of the AFL season in good form. Think we are a decent chance of beating the blues if the boys can have a good recovery and get over the mental scars from the weekend and hopefully the extra time on the track (8 day break) will allow a chance to work on structures and gameplan a bit more after a tough month!

Don't think Simpkin or Saunders will be dropped. No need to rest players, there's a bye coming up.....

Re: Changes against Blues
I'm not sure why people are calling for Saunders to be dropped or rested, his skills are not fantastic but he was the only one other than Lenny to attack the ball and the opponent instead of just watching the Hawks players get the ball and run off with it. Our guys were like stunned rabbits in headlights, I have no idea what they were thinking.

SIpposs best on ground should be rewarded, ditto Ross, we need another tall defender and another goalkicker.
Keep Sipposs in for at least two games, if he performs, he stays in.

Slight change to my ins, Dunstan ahead of either Milera or Ross.

Agree. I don't believe the selectors will be any where near as reactionary as some would like.bergholt wrote:IN: Bruce, Dunstan, Roberton

Re: Changes against Blues
After managing 3 goals, I'd hope we add a new forward… we're averaging 65 points per game at the moment, so our current setup is not working too well, it's only superhuman Riewoldt antics that have saved us from being 0 - 7.karnaby wrote:Agree. Re: Changes against Blues
I hope not. As I keep saying...with the exception of injured players I'd let as many as possible go again this week as that would give a good indication about what's going on above the shoulders.karnaby wrote:Agree. Re: Changes against Blues
Wonder why Bruce was dropped? His form was good, there must have been another reason. It would be good to have him back. If Gwilt is injured, he's the logical replacement.
We need an additional strong forward. Is Lee ready? Is Sippos or Murdoch up to it?
Hopefully Dunstan has recovered from his concussion and is ready to replace Geary.

Re: Changes against Blues
Sounds like Roberton didn't set the world on fire against the Bombers in VFL- maybe still not ready. I think Siposs needs to be thrown into the forward line with Milera, as at the moment it is a one person forward line with no option other than Roo marks and kicks goals, and if he doesn't we lose. We need more goals from the midfield too.Beno88 wrote:Out : Geary, Gwilt, Savage, Saunders, Jones
