Sydney more skillful than us certainly but also much quicker and much fitter. Unsurprisingly our younger guys simply can't run out a full game played at pace with many transitions. Can't agree with criticism of Goddard. He's been good down back for a FIRStT YEAR kpp. Showed nothing when tried down back in the VFL earlier in the year. Let's hope it's a while before we see that experiment again.

I wonder if they'll give Pierce a chance next week.

It's so hard to tell on TV if he's in the wrong spots around the ground or that the team has been told to not pass to him. Weird not seeing long kicks to a pack with your ruckman in it.

Lets face it holmes wont make it. Pierce and Longer look pretty good though

Bloody hell were never gonna win a flag are we? Heres always better teams and players and then when we ARE he best team by a mile we manage to lose the grand final by a bounce of a ball or weather or oppositikn clubs setting up our players etc etc

I think Goddard has hit the wall, it has been a great year from the kid.

I think he'll put in the rack now and won't travel to Perth next week.

The sky is not falling Sainters! Yes we got flogged by a side that will go deep into the finals but there are things we can learn from that game.

1. On any of our big losses we have been slaughtered with thenopposition sling shot running out of defence.
2. Richo's game plan does not stand up against the elite kicking sides YET?
3. If we could kick straight at goals our belief and results would be significantly better.
4. No reward from forward entries is a concern and very disheartening for the team.
5. Supporters have been critcising our skills and rightly so they are deplorable when under pressure.
6. 2. Years ago people were criticsing West Coasts skills yet they have improved.
7. Sydney showed what teams with decent strength programmes do - they bully oppositions.
8. Sydneys man on man tactics completely obliterated any run from behind we tried to create.

Lots of work to do but lets not lose faith in the journey we are on!

Some good posts in this thread.
Yes we lack finishing and skills under pressure - but they tend to improve when a side plays together regularly and players learn more composure.
We still to need to add some outside pace to support Jack and to make the opposition panic a bit more - but I think blind freddy knows this so I am sure the club is on to it.
