So why a home final next week as they were saying on the commentary?

It's a final 8. So 2nd v 3rd. They will play Williamstown or Footscray at home.

Great grinding win in bloody cold conditions.

Does your StKilda membership get us in to see Sandy in the finals?

Cheers. I thought it was a six for some reason. So that makes next week a must win.

We get free entry to Sandy home games, not sure about the finals. I doubt they cost that much anyway. Last years grand final was only $20.

Got near it a bit but wasn't really his sort of day, given the wet conditions. Didn't particularly show off his pace, had more hard ball gets than running bounces. Was in the game most of the time but didn't get a huge amount of the footy or have a huge amount of influence. First time I've seen him play in a year or two, didn't give me much confidence that he was getting close.

Top 4 get a 2nd chance in a top 8.

Surely it means it isn't a must win even though a win is better than a loss.

THE BIG ONE
Former St Kilda midfielder Clint Jones enhanced his potential Liston Trophy credentials with another 40-possession best-on ground performance for Sandringham as the Zebras set themselves for a home qualifying final against likely opponent Williamstown next week.
The 51-point win over the Casey Scorpions at Trevor Barker Beach Oval on Saturday consolidated second spot for the Zebras, who are looking to claim their first VFL flag since 2006.
Coach Paul Hudson last week spoke of the exciting "vibe" at the club heading into the finals and believes it is on the back of its pre-season recruits, Jones, Mitch Brown and Trent Dennis-Lane, who kicked three goals, while Ahmed Saad kicked four as they ran over the top of the Scorpions in the second half.
Jones maintains "the real season starts next week" and believes Arryn Siposs (24 disposals) relished a move to the midfield alongside Myke Cook and himself, as they brilliantly worked the ball from Mark Jamar's dominance in the hit-outs for Casey.
Lewis Pierce, however, has battled manfully in the ruck for the Zebras in the absence of Jason Holmes, who is thriving in his debut AFL matches at the Saints.
Casey hold on to eighth spot and will play finals next week.

Port Melbourne coach Gary Ayres's tip for the #PJVFL premiership? Box Hill Hawks. Suspects we'll see a Box Hill-Sandringham grand final.

Not exactly a radical prediction considering they're 1 and 2 on the ladder.

Luke Delaney

Luke played up forward for us because Paddy McCartin, Tim Membrey and Spencer White didn’t play. He has a lot more respect for the forwards now that he has played up there – he didn’t realise how hard it was! Luke had a good game, providing a marking target for us and kicking 1.2.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Lewis Pierce

Lewis was outstanding. He didn’t win the hit outs, but he made Mark Jamar earn every one of his. He covered the outlets really well and intercepted a few. He was able to get off Jamar and find the ball around the ground. It was a terrific performance from Lewis. 16 handballs indicated that he followed up. We won the clearances and he and Clint Jones had a lot to do with this.

No.

5 of the best were Sandy players (Jones, Brown, Cook, Weickhardt, Dennis-Lane).

Of the others, 4 were Saints players who may well be delisted (Saad, Saunders, Siposs, Markworth).

And 3 are Saints players who aren't exactly young (Delaney, Shenton, Simpkin).

That leaves 2 actual Saints youngsters: Pierce and McKenzie. Pierce was good, McKenzie was OK.

So no, it doesn't tell us anything about the Saints youngsters.
