Surely a home and away winning percentage over 66% makes you great?

Does anyone have any real questions?

Seriously though. How good would his % be if he had stayed at St.Kilda?

After next week win lose or draw Clarkson becomes either clear number one or equal to Matthews.
Where does Lyon sit amongst 21st century coaches?
Is he above Malthouse, Sheedy and Williams?

I don't think he coached in the last few years. Are you the manager of RL. Never heard that figure.

Lyon is a very good coach but an absolutely awful list manager. 4 years at Freo and he hasnt done a single thing about getting a 2nd key fwd. Something just nqr about his brain. Still insists on playing the same side week in week out that always has 5 hacks . Refuses to give Ballard a game. Refuses to recruit a key fwd. And now they are after Leuenberger? WTF. They have 5 rucks on their list and no tall fwds besides Pav. The guy isnt right in the head. Its like he wants to play with one hand tied behind his back. You cant win flags when you cant score over 70 points. But yes - as a game day coach - hes excellent.

Harsh. I think they have tried for the last 2 years.

Not tried hard enough have they. How can you win finals when you cant score over 70 points? You cant. Every single person said they couldnt win because they couldnt score enough. This has been open knowledge for three years now. Open knowledge. But Lyon was too stubborn and seems to have a MASSIVE blindspot when it comes to list mgt. Ill remind you we finished bottom three years after he left.

Gameplan just doesn't stand up in finals. Proven time and time again.

Will Lyon finally learn that the 2005 'Bloods' game-plan he has been sticking to for 10 years is out dated?

I think the thing that's off about RL is that if he has 2 players to choose from... One talented but lazier and one not as talented but a work horse... He always focuses on the work horse.

And i respect the mantra to a degree... The team that works the hardest gets the best out of itself and maximises its chance for success. It sets the message, builds culture etc

But the team that wins the game is not the one that works the hardest but plays the best.

You look at Hawthorn, there are a lot of players there that didn't start their journey as hard working champions. They have had their fair share of lazy'ish players with talent but they developed them into better players.

Personally i think that's the difference btw Clarkson and Lyon

That appears to be the case. It's a bit of a paradox but the Hawks are very very good.

Stubborn.

Will not change.

Footy moved on, he hasn't.

Why?

Scores about 10 goals, then tries to stop up holes in a leaking dam wall and runs out of fingers.

Serious question...

If we had taken Cyril Rioli ahead of McEvoy, would he be half the player that he became?

I honestly think not

Agree.

He would've left us by now.

The 2005 scorecard was 58 to 54. Lyon is still clinging on to that.
