Like I said earlier....If we are forced to give pick 5, put JC in the national draft and use pick 5 on him...Essendon get donuts..worst case he gets picked up pick 1.2.3. Pushes a gun closer to our pick 5.

If the hawthorn deal is real then good luck to them I would hate for us to outbid them as what is rumoured is already overs

BUT
Hawks and North are very quiet. The deal as rumoured I would argue both North and the Hawks get raped. The big big winner is Essendon which just doesn't make sense given the circumstances

Hope this turns out to be crap and blows up in their face...stay strong bains...play the long game.

If it does turn to custard then it's the pad for mine...also and importantly now..we should focus on freeman and get it done
Agree wholeheartedly!!

Any chance we might actually get involved in trade period? It started with a bang with three players committing to us, and everyone talking about how we have become a 'destination' club, but one week in and still nothing. I hope we aren't investing all our efforts in the Carlsisle trade and we run out of time and miss out on other trades. In a shallow draft year, with lots of player movement, we have gone awfully quiet. seems like no-one wants to trade with us.

Why such obsession with making a trade? Personally 5 and 24 with Rice sounds good to me unless a great deal opens up. Only interested in Freeman if he costs nothing: there is a strong chance the guy never plays a senior game. He may have been elite when drafted, but two years of rehab and not playing sets you back substantially.

the longer it goes the more i hope we either:
- keep 5, give 24 for freeman and use 42 for rice (or later pick if possible), and hope but not bank on carlisle in the PSD; or
- use 5 to get carlisle and freeman (bombers give 23 to pies), we keep 24 & 42 for drafting.

Brilliant Idea!

Its actually better for us to do that, as it WONT give a leg up to Essendon.

Love it!

For what its worth knightmare has us picking up Wayne Milera with pick 5. If that happens I will be high fiving all and sundry. Might have to take a slab over to p67s.
He kicked 5 in a senior SANFL game late this season and his video just looks very impressive to say the least. He tested top 10 for repeat sprints at the combine.

5. St Kilda – Wayne Milera (SA – MID/FWD)
Height: 185cm, Weight: 75kg, DOB: 14/09/1997
Recruited from: Central Districts
Range: 5-25
Profile: Damaging midfielder with class and evasiveness.

While we are at it - there is a hell of a lot to like about Clayton Oliver as well.
The kid looks hard as a cats head, very skilful and just hungry for the contest. He is a good size, a tough country kid. He tested top 10 for agility and kicked a perfect score for goal kicking at the Combine. He excels in two areas we are weak in - goal conversions and clearances. We could do a lot worse than having a good hard look at this guy.

10. Port Adelaide – Clayton Oliver (VIC – MID)
Height: 187cm, Weight: 86kg, DOB: 22/07/1997
Recruited from: Murray Bushrangers
Range: 5-25
Profile: Powerful stoppage specialist.

Notably Mathieson tested well for clean hands and general kicking. Also noteworthy is that Nick Coughlan tested top 10 in kicking and goalkicking. Parish didn't come top 10 in any of the testing.

Do we really want Carlisle that badly when we already have Goddard? Maybe this draft isnt so weak afterall.

The thing that stands out to me is why North would want to help Hawks to another flag when their own window is closing fast. With Lake gone last thing they need is Hawks picking up a ready made KPD. I doubt Jed Anderson is their missing piece of the puzzle.

I know this is vague so take it for what it's worth. I think there is potential for some big trade news today and I don't think it is Carlisle related.

Sorry I can't offer more but I just received a cryptic message from a guy in the know and that's all he could offer up...still some work to do but watch this space

Can you at least divulge if it involves St. Kilda?

Agree with previous posters, I like the idea of letting Carlisle fall to the national draft in the worst case scenario... my only concern is that im pretty sure i read somewhere that he doesnt want to do that and will push hard for Hawthorn if his hands are forced. Still Im not against keeping five alive!

I have a question for the guys and girls on here ..would St Kilda have had some idea that Lake would be retiring from Hawthorne and that the Hawks would be looking at Carlisle over the trade period and that is why we offered him a very good deal ie a reported 3.5 mill over a reported 5 years-was this to keep the wolves away knowing we would never trade 5 for him. Was this planned for did we see it coming?

I think yes, I am pretty sure it was mentioned at some stage that the Hawks were a possibility.

Statement from St Kilda FC Chief Operating Officer Ameet Bains:

“I’ve spent much of the day with Jake Carlisle’s manager and can absolutely confirm that Jake’s sole focus remains playing for the Saints in 2016. Further, Jake has confirmed this directly to our senior coach Alan Richardson when they spoke earlier today,” Bains said.

“I can also confirm that the Essendon Football Club has an offer before them to trade Jake to the Saints. We do not intend on providing running commentary on our negotiations and out of respect for Essendon we will not be publicly discussing the specifics of the proposal.

“But what I will say is that we have Jake and his management’s support for our proposal which we all believe is fair and reasonable and would achieve a satisfactory outcome for all involved.”

Its also being rumoured that the offer was rejected by Dildo
Sam Landsberger @SamLandsberger
Essendon has REJECTED St Kilda's offer for Jake Carlisle. Advantage Hawthorn.

Perhaps time for AFL mediation?

Essendon should take it. That is a good offer, I don't want to give them pick 5

Bombers trying to swap 23 and 25 for GWS's 8. Won't give them up in Carlisle swap.

Honestly I dont know how this will pan out, but could end up with AFL mediation or even the PSD even though it as mentioned that the PSD is no option,

Carlisle and his manager are on board, I dont think he will end up at the Hawks

Essendon are fast becoming the club that no one wants to deal with, or rather proving why no one wants to trade with them, They may be burning a lot of bridges

sounds good.. improve our offer to 5 for Calrlise and 23
Bombers know it wont be straight swap for 5

But they cant claim that 5 for 23+carlisle is a bad deal... they cant reject because of some side deal with GWS...

Swap 23+24 for GWS 8

42 for rice
