Re: Tom Lee
Not sure he's a fav of our coach... I think he needs a month down back to prove his worth. One thing I noticed last week was not only our kicking, but how much we were beaten in the air. Surely Tom Lee couldnt hurt coming in...

What did Lee say in his infamous last AFL match down at the Cattery last year?
From memory we got thumped and his attitude was an issue.

Re: Tom Lee
For me it's simple & a no-brainer, we need to bring Lee in for Geary. We have Newnes or Dempster to play on the small forwards. And we would gain someone who can actually kick the ball.
By all reports he's been demonstrating good leadership in the 2s, we have enough experience down back. Therefore I can not think of 1 valid reason why he shouldn't be given his short.

Re: Tom Lee
My take; we are going to finish bottom 4/5 anyway, and may finish as low as bottom 3 on present form. Why not see what Lee can offer down back - I have been critical of him as a forward but at some point people need to be given a fair go at it to show what they got. We'll win about 5-7 games, so one more or less here or there isn't going to make much of a difference considering that Carlisle is out for the year, Freeman is going to spend most of the year at Sandy doing rest and rehabilitation, and Bailey Rice and Daniel McKenzie have both had glandular fever during the pre-season. I honestly don't see the point in continuing to play guys who are a known quantity and ignoring those who may have something special to offer.

Frankly I don't know why he doesn't get a go.dragit wrote:Two and a half games in over two years while he's been in the best most weeks in the VFL.magnifisaint wrote:I think he's had a fair crack at it
He seems to have settled in to the backline in the VFL very well, is a good kick and seems to position well.
Would love to know the coaches reasons for him not getting a gig.
But then again I wasn't too convinced by the reasons Richo gave for Acres being dropped either so if it is an internal thing we most likely wont find out.
Still would like to see him have a shot.
You are garbage - Enough said

Alright guys. It took us some time but we finally got Minch in the team. Now we need to start PROJECT TOMMY. This should be our theme song.
I get video's sent from Richo to my personal email address straight after the game so he obviously values my opinion. I'll bombard him with Tommy's highlights from the VFL. Obviously as Drag pointed out I'm pushing my anti-Dempster vendetta hard to try and knock Sean out to make a spot for Mr big hair. I've noticed quite a few working away on undermining Geary's position with a wild passion. If Minch is any guide Tommy will need to have BOG for the next 6 games and then MIGHT come into consideration. Lets get to it! I'm talking f*&ing Lee...

Re: Tom Lee
No doubt to me that Richo doesn't want anything to do with previous coach's recruits where possible, and I guess that's his right, but I would be cycling through a lot of players to see how they work at senior level individually and as a group, rather than not taking a risk and playing it safe by sticking to the old guys like glue regardless of results.
I don't think risk-taking is in Richo's blood and he appears to be like many managers I have worked alongside, where they are driven by a rigid criteria and a belief in a system to the point where they can't look outside the box and actually see and accept failure in the system they are following, and many are incapable of changing mid-stream. In season three of his tenure, we are basically standing still, though we would like to believe otherwise.
Like all Saint supporters, I want to see us win every possible game, but right now, as last season, I am looking for some kind of system, structure, style that indicates something is building- but I see nothing.

I didn't see it, was Bruce any better? Lee didn't get another chancemagnifisaint wrote:Didn't look flash in the NAB challenge against North Melbourne.
Lee - 7 touches - 4 marks - 3 tackles - 1.1
Bruce - 7 touches - 4 marks - 3 tackles - 2.0

Re: Tom Lee
Our results from the previous 8 games since Round 17 last year have been appalling - a draw and 7 losses, with our percentage being 53% from those games. And we still have essentially the same back half we used in those games. Given we have Carlisle to come back next year, and with Goddard we have a key position defender in the making, but it wouldn't hurt to experiment a bit given that we have had a very poor run this past 8 games.
For those who believe in omens though, our last win was at the G against another foundation club.

Next game wash out. Next game dropped.
He's never been given an opportunity down back.

Absolutely shocking run of results but we pick the same bunch week in week out. For what purpose?samuraisaint wrote:Our results from the previous 8 games since Round 17 last year have been appalling - a draw and 7 losses, with our percentage being 53% from those games. Re: Tom Lee
Guys, guys, girls,
I've worked it out.
Tommy sets up a donation page for a head shave with money's going to the club.
He raises $10,000
He gets a game every week.
Simple!

Totally agree Con - Richo is proving himself to be no better than Lyon in managing the bottom half of the list, as well as playing the same under performing players.Con Gorozidis wrote:Absolutely shocking run of results but we pick the same bunch week in week out. I love Richo and he is a great for club stability, but he has consistently shown his major weakness is a lack of lateral thinking and tunnel vision with his ideas on what players should play and where.

Re: Tom Lee
1. Was an emergency for the seniors today.
2. According to VFL website was second best player for Sandy today ( behind Blacres) .
3. Roberton likely out for next week, and Gilbert perhaps moving forward to cover for Roo as he did today, seemingly opening up spots for 2 talls in defence.
As Elvis said, "It's Now or Never " for Tom this week.

Please explain the reasons behind his omission this week tony74? I thought he has shown some good things the last couple of weeks.

Bit stiff, but a better more balanced side picked this week.
