Dylan Roberton

Post: # 1624791Post terry smith rules »

I thought his first half (in particular) yesterday was sensational

Great marking, kicking and ability to read the play

About to hit 100 games, he is going to be a star next year

Just needs a hair stylist

Another one often maligned.

I'd like to see him push forward more, like Dempster used to in his younger years and kick more goals, or at least hit up targets I50.

It's not ability with Dylan, if he decided to take it up a notch, he could be in the Bob Murphy mould.

I can't wait until I see him run out each week, to see what hairstyle he will have. They have been a source of fascination for me.

Gee he has been through some doozies.

Came to us with long flowing locks, held in place with an Alice band and was clean shaven.

Then, the hair went a little shorter, but retained the Alice band, but 'butched' his look up with facial stubble.

Then, came the neat short back an sides, no stubble. The boring 'nice boy next door', that your mother hoped you would go out with when you were a young girl, not the long haired hippie types you usually dragged home!

Then, there were a couple of weeks he had curls, a couple of seasons back (the year he missed a fair bit of time with his ankle problems)

Then, this season he turns up practically bald, with a #1 cut.

As it grew, he looked like a real nerd. So, so proper and boring.

Then a few of weeks ago, he comes out with it all crimped on top, and the sides shaved, but a teenzy, weenzy hint of a mullet happening.

Now the one he sported this week, he's trending to a Mohawk.

I mentioned to another poster recently, maybe his wife is a hair stylist, and she uses him as a model to practise on.???

However, my assumption was wrong, can't blame the wife. Billy Longer gave him the haircut he was sporting a few weeks ago.

There is a video on the Saints.com site about all the weird hair do's at the Saints over the years. And Dylan in one of them.

Love Dylan, love his crazy hair styles - think he's a very good player. His playing style reminds me very much of Andrew Mackie of Geelong. Mackie is a very unobtrusive, but effective player for the Cats over the years. He has been a good defensive mark, who reads the play well, can springboard a Geelong attack very quickly. I hope Dylan can prove to be such a durable and effective for the Saints over the years, like Mackie has been for the Cats.

A good comparison with Mackie, Loris. Here's hoping. His ability is there, it's consistency within and between games that he lacks. He needs to build his confidence and that will come with time and consistency. Goodness knows we need someone of his type to develop into a top-liner.

In the offseason there was talk about him getting some midfield time. Obviously with Carlisle out and Fisher missing we've needed him in defence. Been a good pick up for nothing.

Showed what he was capable of, BM. If he could bring that for 4 quarters, week in, week out, we'd solve one of our defensive headaches. I'm cautious, though. Every time he gets my hopes up, he puts in a poor one. Over to you, Dylan.

Like Savage

He teases

For a 25yo (like savage) you'd hope for only 6-7/10 and the odd 8-9/10

I think that once Carlisle and Roberton have had a few games together, we will see our defence becoming a very formidable one, particularly with young Goddard being a part of it. Exciting times ahead folks!
