Tom Mitchell

Post: # 1641483Post Joffa Burns »

If Hawthorn can't satisfy Swans, what would it take to get the deal done.
IMO he's a perfect fit for Saints.
Not too expensive, ball winner with improved defensive side to his game and great tackler.
Right age bracket.

Dream outcome:
Our 10, 48 and next year's 2nd round pick for......
Mitchell pick 17 & pick 55 for this year from Swans.
Am I dreaming?

They will want 10 on its own and probably fair request.
I'd be loath to give up 10 alone for Mitchell.

We are all allowed to dream.
I have been dreaming of winning another premiership since I was 14 years old.
50 years ................................ and still dreaming.

In reality you can't really say he is a perfect fit for us but you wouldn't be happy to give up 10. To get a teens pick back is highly unlikely especially considering the bloke hasn't nominated us and has been linked to Hawks for months.

Once a player nominates a club, it's highly probable that a deal is done. I'd like to have a strong offer on the table to give Hawthorn some of their own medicine and to keep them honest. Hell I'd even fly Richo to Sydney to visit him at his place to show Clarko that sort of behaviour just ain't ok. Alternatively, I think Carlton might come in late if they lose Gibbs. One thing is for sure, Hawks get stronger in the short term with Titch there and that pisses me off.

I would be disappointed if the Saints didnt try to gazump the Hawks on this. Hawthorn are really starting to piss me off, with how they continually seem to able to pluck the best players out of each trade period. Something stinks of salary cap fraud down at Waverly IMO?

Pick 10 for a player that finished 10th in his club's B&F?
They obviously don't rate him as highly as some.
Good but not great.

26 disposals & 2 goals in a GF not strong enough ? You would think a top 10 finish at the Swans is a fair result given strength of their team

Have a crack Saints!!!! We apparentley have more room in our salary cap than any other side.

Carlisle wasn't top ten at Essendon in 2015 either... Which included baguley & mckernen

Mitchell is a gun, worth a top ten pick IMO.

If they don't give up a fair bit to bring in O'Meara and T. Mitchell.. I'll be thinking how the f**k have they managed that?! But then, maybe their champions that have made their coin are now just playing for peanuts and the thrill of the game.

This. And weaken Hawthorn at the same time. Just do it!

For 10 in a heartbeat.
Look at who went for pick 10 in the last 10 drafts, he would be behind 1 or 2 guys only

I would personally be disappointed if we dont make a serious play for Mitchell, from what i understand he is gettable and we have the means but do we have the b...s to do it. Come on Saints forget Stevens and chase hard on Mitchell, will top off our midfield very nicely.

Looks like Sammy Mitchell could be heading to West Coast as a player/coach to make these deals work.

Inter-Club politics takes some effect in the trade period, I reckon (i.e. watch the video on the AFL regarding the Croad-Pick 1 trade in 2001).

Whilst I don't think that St. Kilda will nab Mitchell, we definitely have a relatively stronger relationship with the swans come trade week in comparison to the Swans-Hawks relationship (particularly, in the circumstance that Mitchell may play a role in potentially winning a Hawks-Swans grand final next year). Swans and us may 'hold talks' to either a) make hawks bump up their price, or b) actually give Mitchell to us for an equivalent price to what Hawks are offering just to spite them

Happy to give up Pick 10.

Mitchell is 23 and is proven at AFL level. No guarantees that Pick 10 in the draft is any good, and Mitchell would provide 10 years of service.

If he was 27, totally different story....

absolutely worth considering. club has stated it wants to be top 4 by 2018 and flag by 2020 - which is right in Mitchell's prime (25 - 27) - and he has already shown he can perform in a GF.

Pick 10 will be 20 - 22 years of age - in his 2nd to 4th years of footy.

Tom Mitchell or a Sandy Find ?

Post: # 1641864Post the dome »

Just wondering how the stack of Sandy players are being rated (including these 3 below) ? ?

Tim Taranto Mid 186cm, Wt 82kg Sandringham Dragons

Oliver Florent Mid 183 cm, Wt 84 kg Sandringham Dragons

Jack Scrimshaw Def 193 cm, Wt 80 kg Sandringham Dragons

FP Suggested that JS might be well suited to transitioning to a mid
"there is more than a shade of Bontempelli about him" says footy prophet.

anyway seems to be a stack of highly rated MIDS this year.
I'm thinking back to 2001 & Hodge (Haw), Ball (St.K), Judd (WC).
Going after Mitchell or uncovering a Judd/ Hodge ? ? :D

Here's hoping we can secure another Joey or Dal from this years draft and they can be part of our next flag. Just had a look back to the 2001 draft and you are spot on about the number and quality of mids

The 2001 draft is known widely as the "superdraft" due to the recruitment of star players such as Luke Hodge, Luke Ball, Chris Judd, Jimmy Bartel, Nick Dal Santo, Steve Johnson, Sam Mitchell, Leigh Montagna, Gary Ablett, Brian Lake, James Kelly and Dane Swan. Judd, Mitchell and Hodge have captained their respective teams in 2006, 2008, 2013, 2014 & 2015 grand finals. Judd (2004, 2010), Bartel (2007), Ablett (2009, 2013), and Swan (2011) have also won Brownlows
