Re: Koby Stevens
One of the best things about recruiting Stevens is that Steven won't be called Stevens anymore.
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.

Farren Ray was alright.saynta wrote:Zed wrote:I haven't seen a lot of him, but my memories of his games were that he was a ball butcher. Can someone please tell me otherwise?
I hope to hell he is better than the last doggie we signed.

Never underestimate the laziness and stupidity of a footy commentator, saintspremiers. What's the bet they call Stevens, Steven and continue to call Jack, Stevens? At least Koby isn't another Jack!saintspremiers wrote:One of the best things about recruiting Stevens is that Steven won't be called Stevens anymore.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Sorry, thought we signed Ray before Birss, not after.minneapolis wrote:Farren Ray was alright.saynta wrote:Zed wrote:I haven't seen a lot of him, but my memories of his games were that he was a ball butcher. Can someone please tell me otherwise?

My bad because I meant Birss. I was always a Farren fan.

Not too late please - the AFL has to receive the paperwork before 2PM and it has to be all present and correct.saynta wrote:Stevens deal will be done late thursday.
Otherwise no deal.

As he is uncontracted, he would likely walk to us even without a trade, right?ace wrote:Not too late please - the AFL has to receive the paperwork before 2PM and it has to be all present and correct.saynta wrote:Stevens deal will be done late thursday.

He would need to go into the PSD where Essendon would get first pick.
We have to trade to get him.

From the guys doing the running Q & A on the Heraldsun site. Quoting the doggies list managerfugazi wrote:Wheredid you hear that Saynta? And why so late if it is something of a formality...could be done any old time?saynta wrote:Stevens deal will be done late thursday.

Said clubs like the Saints are holding of as long as possible to see what else falls first.
"QUESTION FROM CHRIS: Do you think St Kilda is planning anything else?
The Saints could get Koby Stevens. This is what Western Bulldogs list manager Jason McCartney said on SEN this morning...
He's looking for opportunity and obviously he's made a decision to go to St Kilda. Likely to get done on Thursday as clubs wait to see what picks they finish up with. There's so much going on at the top end of this trade period that the clubs trying to secure these types of players are really reluctant to do anything until late because see how it all falls out."

Re: Koby Stevens
I am not sure that you are correct. I believe that 1/he has not been offered a contract and then 2/ as such if then delisted that he would then be a Delisted Free Agent (like Membrey or Roberton) and could then join the Saints.longtimesaint wrote:Not unless he was a free agent like Brown.shrodes wrote:As he is uncontracted, he would likely walk to us even without a trade, right?ace wrote:Not too late please - the AFL has to receive the paperwork before 2PM and it has to be all present and correct.saynta wrote:Stevens deal will be done late thursday.

Players delisted by a club are unrestricted free agents but a player who retires or delists himself is not eligible to be a free agent.
The only minor disadvantage to this is that in theory that he cannot train with us till later.
Most likely he will be traded late on Thursday fora late pick , or exchange of late picks.

You are probably right but at this stage he hasn't been delisted by the Dogs.saintsRrising wrote:I am not sure that you are correct. Re: Koby Stevens
True, but all clubs will delist more players yet, and this can be done by various dates (delisting periods) and so there is plenty of time for them to delist him if they do not trade himand this does not have to be done this week.longtimesaint wrote: You are probably right but at this stage he hasn't been delisted by the Dogs.
The Saints will certainly delist more players.

Re: Koby Stevens
Loris, that piece of commentary omits that Steven originally got the footy from a Stevens' handpass. Stevens having kept running to receive that Steven's handball. So they were even stevens.loris wrote:..........It was Steven's handball to Stevens that resulted in the goal.......... The apostrophe will be the link!!!!!!
And a word to those British bulldogs. You will take our pick 50 (odd), or we walk St Stevens to the DFA draft.

Sorry Kevin Spacey, but for me, there’s only one, magnificently Machiavellian F.U.
