I also hope that we don't do the Aboriginal jinx on Long. We haven't been much chop with Aboriginal players recently
Gresham is going ok with us isn't he?
First I've heard he's part Aboriginal. Very pale skinned. What is his heritage? Love the Gresh btw!

Certainly we could get huuge improvements from the following, compared to last year, if all goes well

Carlisle
Steele
Freeman
Brown
Billings
Acres
Dunstan
Stevens
McCartin

That is a lot and leaves out other possible improvements, including Long who could well be able to contribute in his first year
I reckon you could add Roberton and Dempster to that list purely because with the inclusion of Carlise and Brown they're finally going to be playing their natural roles not undersized KPP. I reckon Roberton especially is going to have a blinder next year.

and Armo but others will get injured or drop off

Gresham is indigenous through his mother’s side and mum Michelle was thrilled to see him model the Saints’ new indigenous strip and the chance to watch her son play AFL on Mother’s Day.

“It makes me feel proud,” she said.

“He’s lived his dream, he always wanted to play football as a child and make AFL. It’s good how they acknowledge the Aboriginal kids.”

Gresham’s grandparents are from Shepparton and Mooroopna and with the family belonging to the Yorta Yorta people.

Indeed, we're better than we think. I was roundly criticised for caling we would win 11 games this year. We went one better. This is an outstanding list they've collected. We can win it next year, if we get a run like the bulldogs did. I just did some training at the Maribyrnong/Footscray Council. The columns at the front were decorated in red, white and blue. The first thing the lady on reception reminded me of was that the seniors, VFL and women's team all won the premiership! Imagine what this would do at Moorabbin!

I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Better than most - that leads to being a failed contender.
Nailing your picks better than every other team - that leads to premierships.

Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Absolutely nothing.
Nothing happening at Moorabbin until we get that ... < warning to self - abusive sexist language> .... out of the way.

Quayle and Gleeson summary
http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/a ... szyqe.html

St Kilda ▲ Up

The Saints finished 2016 with momentum but still have a need for speed. Photo: Getty Images

In: Nathan Brown, Jason Holmes (rookie upgrade), Jack Steele, Koby Stevens, Ben Long (pick 25), Josh Battle (39), Ed Phillips (56), Rowan Marshall (rookie)

Out: Tom Curren, Luke Delaney, Sam Fisher, Tom Lee, Brodie Murdoch, Brenton Payne, Josh Saunders, Cameron Shenton, Eli Templeton.

WHAT THEY GOT: An up and coming midfielder (Steele) and another who'll add depth (Stevens). They drafted some pace in Long, who has starred as a small forward at VFL level but can play other positions too. Another ruckman for the list, though Marshall may develop as a forward. Battle is a hard-running forward to be groomed for life after Riewoldt.

IMPACT: Jack Steele and Koby Stevens add immediate toughness and depth to the midfield, but not speed which is the only worry for the Saints, who finished 2016 with momentum. If they get Freeman right, problem solved. They have depth in most positions, and several players with big scope who are on the improve. McCartin going to the next level will help Saints make their anticipated next step
