Lots of positives today

Post: # 1730581Post parkeysainter »

Yep, there a few negatives but there were heaps of positives to come out of today. It was a good effort against the reigning premiers from a very young Saints side that is struggling with confidence atm. We are also missing a few of our best 22.

Positives:
-Won the disposal count very easily and other stats
-Good in clearances, contests and hitouts
-Ross, Steven, Webster, Geary, Savage, Carlisle, Gresham were good
-Gresham 6.0 goals
-Goals v points (12.5), it just shows we can kick straight
-Phillips, Rice and Clarke got a few touches considering they have barely played
-Austin's 1st game was positive (22 touches)
-White and Dunstan were out for extended periods due to injury. I think Newnes was done early in the 4th too so that affected things.
-Paddy's comeback was ok. Loved the helmet.

All in all, our skill levels let us down as do inside 50's at times which costs us at the final siren. We lack 2-3 match winners and it shows most weeks.

Agreed. We actually dominated in the hitouts, clearances and stoppages for most the game. The last qtr evened it up for Richmond.

Can I just a cynical jerk for a second....

Is it not outrageously concerning that we can win in so many important areas yet only scrounge up 17 shots at goal? And concede over 30.

It just reeks of a flawed strategy.

You call ZERO goals from a full forward O.K.
If a centre forward in soccer does not score a goal they don't call it O.K.

Pudding was useless.
He took the place of another kid who would have benefited from the experience.
Too slow, he can never get a break on his defender because he has no acceleration.
When the opposition gets the ball they have a loose man to help escape the pressure.

Agreed Jiggers. We lack star power and efficiency. It will come and I think we have a very good core under 25 going forward.

This exercise in 'looking for positives' is simply about filling fans with false hope.

An exercise in futility and denial.

Only positive today was we kicked 12 goals from 17 shots .
If we carry this accuracy into next week we will only lose by around 50 points.
If we return to our years average then a 100 point shellacking is on the cards

Honestly - how far can we fall?

Finding positives in only losing by 5 goals to the reigning premier who had 2 players on the bench from midway through the first quarter....

We pantsed that mob in Round 16 last year.

Look what theyve done and look what we did since.

How on Earth did it all go so horribly wrong?

I fail to see a single positive out of any loss at this point in time. And Con G is the realist here Parkey.... not you.

Makes him an exert on this site, then. I used to believe, falsely as it turns out, this was a StKilda FAN forum. Clearly, it is not. It is full of idiots that want to tear down the club, its officials and its players at any given opportunity.

If I knew the ID of any of these fools and I saw them on fire in the street, I'd go piss on a tree.

Yes, there were positives to take out of today. Shame it is a waste of time talking about them on this forum.
