Not sure about Hannerbrey.

But where is the hate for Hannebery and Kent?

Just because some of us want to discuss and factor in the demonstrated form and injury record of these two players does not in any way mean that we hat them. nor to we believe in exagerating wherea player currently is at such as Kent having been a Melbourne Best 22 Players as he most clearly was not. I do not understand your logic at all.

As I have stated repeatedly now for the trade price we paid paid for Hannebery (including getting under for Hickey) and Kent I have most happy with both of these deals.

But I am not blind to the risks that both players have with staying on the park in recent years.

I like most fans are hoping that we can get their injuries behind them and that other can become best 22 players for us playing week in week out. But who knows maybe they will be Freeman Mark 2 and 3.
Great post sRs. Exactly.
Spot on guys.

No hate for either recruit, in fact I think it’s reasonable trading by the saints and happy that Hannebery & Kent join the club.

But agree with above posts, let’s look at facts not bulls***.

Read the Melbourne FC official website, Kent was a fringe player not an automatic in their best 22. His record over the last 6 years shows this.

Hanners is past his best, but let’s hope he still plays 4 years of good footy and brings much needed leadership.

Happy to have both but let’s not pretend we got Scully for pick 53 in this deal.
It’s just indicative of where we are in the AFL pecking order that these are the quality of players we can attract. IMO Richardson’s tenure and that of those in senior management has a lot to do with that.
Entirely correct. Finnis extending The Dribbler for 2 years has made it impossible to attract FA or trade talent - the entire industry knows we're locked in to this rubbish for the next couple of years - we're just kicking ourselves in the nuts in the meantime.

And ... to think that Scully will only play for the Hawks (for pick 53!!!!) and how Beams will only come back to Victoria to play with Collingwood and Kelly back to WA but only to WCE ... shows how completely pear-shaped FA and the trading system has become. Yes, I'm a 37yr diehard Saints member but in the context of how this looks for the so-called socialist/egalitarian nature of the AFL competition - it's a debacle. This year's events are diabolical for the evenness of the comp - no chance that GCS will be competitive again next year (esp when their best player goes to last year's premier); GWS are offloading their talent at a rate of knots.

Sadly - the sucessfull and wealthy will become more so and well, us and a few others will now just have to battle on :(

Neither were Membrey, Bruce or Roberton. They turned out alright.

Hawks interested too. That gives me more confidence.
Hmmm Deal for Wingard is now coming to mind. He might be a return swap in that.

Leigh Montagna played around 50 games in his first five years.
Joey had a lot of injuries that enabled him to play later.

What about all the hacks we have drafted?

Where your list of them champ?

That is a list of past players drafted! That was the point.

Absolutely true: took Joey years to break in. But it was well justified. He wasn't that good, worked super hard on his skills and became a much better footballer by hhis mid-20s (and I don't just mean in terms of consistency, his skills rose massively).
Yes agree, he had has fair share of injuris early too. He definitely took time to get to the standard needed.

Not convinced about Amon....where would he play?..only lightly built and now kent is supposed to play in the middle as well. Few posters suggesting Roberton was plucked out of the blue and could not get a game at Freo...and used that as a justification for chasing players who may not be good enough for saints. He was a regular at Freo when I was over in Perth at that time..played 30-40 games in 2 and a half years....so no mug. Same goes for Membrey…..with the Swans when they were a powerhouse in 2012-14 so not unexpected that he would go well. Amon and kent have been in and out of sides that weren't strong and plus they had injuries.

Yeap, Robbo played 37 games @ Freo in 3 seasons, averaging about 11 possies per game!!!!!

Was picked by St.Kilda as a delisted free agent, so not great at Freo as pointed out!!!!!

Scrimshaw to hawks for a third rounder with a 4th rounder coming back.
Looks like the Hawks recruiters rate him about the same level I do.

Thank god you are not our recruiter Ted.
You'd have given up our 2019 first rounder for him

You wouldn’t take Scrimshaw today or we should swoop on him like you wrote a couple of days ago?

Changed my mind. Heard and read a couple of things today about Scrimshaw that were major worries. Actually, glad we didn't get him now. No wonder Gold Coast gave up little for a former pick 7. A few clubs wouldn't have even drafted him at all apparantly.

Membrey played ONE game for Sydney!!!!!
Yeap, Robbo played 37 games @ Freo in 3 seasons, averaging about 11 possies per game!!!!!

Was picked by St.Kilda as a delisted free agent, so not great at Freo as pointed out!!!!!

Some like to bitch on here, as stated!!!!!
Thats 37 more than you will ever play, the biggest bitch on here seems to be you. Keep googling info and making out you are in the inner sanctum........;) Give us some real inside info.....you know......the stuff that noone else but you knows.....maybe today........
Not in inner sanctum, just fixing your estimates for you!!!!!

I'm happy with my lot, how about you posting something positive on here for once?????

Don't have to be a Turkish Roll every time you post, do you?????

PS. All the so-called ITK's on here haven't been seen during the last couple of weeks, funny that!!!!!
I got no problem posting something positive on here and have put plenty on and thanked many a poster for positive stuff. But as I have said before....it is a forum where a person can put in their own opinion, if a poster dont like it then either respond or ignore. It doesnt worry me if posters dont like my opinion.....that is what it is all about.

What I also dont like is bullshitting about what posters know and implying they are in close asscociation with decision makers at the club and making stuff up for the sake of it. The other one is being accused of being a troll, sainthater or d**khead whatever....for disagreeing with someone elses opinion, this automatically requires retaliation from me. I dont like Longer , you dont like Hickey...so what. There are plenty on here who have clearly stated weller/newnes are no good...that's their opinion. It doesnt mean we dont support the club.

Not really understanding the hate or dislike for Hannerbrey and Kent on here. They were both good pickups and offer different things, especially depth.

Sadly - the sucessfull and wealthy will become more so and well, us and a few others will now just have to battle on :(
FA cannot continue on in its current form, it totally defeats the purpose of the draft, which is supposed to even up the competition. I would go so far as to say that FA has been an abject failure and should be scrapped from next year until a better system is designed that does not continue to make the strong clubs stronger.

Why should the best player in the draft think 's*** I am going to the worst team in the comp. and my team-mate who is half the player I am gets picked up at 18 by the Premiers'. There has to be a way that kid can get to another club after 'doing his time'.

You are correct Gershwin, FA is for players betterment and not designed to even up the comp. It should be changed though IMO
