Re: Hannebery unlikely to play AFL in first month of season
He's probably most unlikely to play at all this year unless it is a couple of VFL games very late in the season.
I have seen this movie before.

I guess he’s too busy not playing football...

Why St Kilda's Dan Hannebery signing has been a failure
Why St Kilda's Dan Hannebery signing has been a failure
When St Kilda threw a big money contract at former Swans star Daniel Hannebery last off-season, the AFL world collectively rolled its eyes.
"When the story was in front of us we said this is a really, really dodgy move.
“Not only is it a dodgy move, they're paying him a ridiculous amount of money. That is an issue.
"We know the body is so banged up that he cannot even get back onto the park right now. We knew this in October. This is not all fresh.
ST KILDA concedes it didn't know the full extent of prized recruit Dan Hannebery's struggles with his body when it traded for him.

Purple hates Saints. Why side with him?
This is a fox sports article which I agree with: https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/commen ... faa27c8f77
Injuries to high salary earners is not good but is part of footy: Nic Nac, Rance, Boyd, Mitchell, Daniher, Hogan, Kruezer and Scully with GWS.
Does not mean they are/were bad for their clubs.
If you do not want someone on high salary injured do not pay high salaries and accept being mediocre, because that is the obvious consequence of being risk adverse.

Re: Hannebery unlikely to play AFL in first month of season
The thing about the money is he he just lucky to come to the club at this stage of the current player list .
At the end of last year we had most of the players signed till 2020/2021.
Now for the last few years we've had plenty of salary cap space and have tried unsuccessfully to get a big name.
Isn't there some rule in the salary cap that you can't pay the minimum more than 4 years in a row ?
So until our good young talent start earning big dollars , players like DH benefit cos under Afl rules the club has to pay more in the cap

Hannebery is a <edited by mods> and we pay for his hijinks just so Simon Lethlean can <edited by mods> to Matt Hannebery.
Disgrace.

Chris Judd, Buddy Franklin and Bobby Skilton are also way better at their jobs than I am at mine.
They also have excellent credentials. AAs, Brownlows etc
But would you give them a 5 year contract now?
Probably not.

Go away.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Actually N). I hate it. Would much rather I didn't have to do it. The admin on a banning takes about 5 minutes of my time each time. I am time poor as it is. It actually sucks that I have to do it.saintspremiers wrote: ↑Sun 07 Apr 2019 11:11amGee you get your kicks out of booting people off the forumGilsAuPair wrote: ↑Sat 06 Apr 2019 11:42pm Hannebery is a <edited by mods> and we pay for his hijinks just so Simon Lethlean can <edited by mods> to Matt Hannebery.

Apparently Hanners is hoping to play in the second half of the season.

Re: Hannebery unlikely to play AFL in first month of season
True. I also pay for the site and have been handed the responsibility bu the owner. But without the rules and without moderation, there would be no footy discussion - just bickering. So doing a bit of work and denying people 24 hours of posting (remember they can still read) is a small price to pay to keep the chatter civilised. All I am saying is that I would much rather there was no need to ban anyone - ever.saintspremiers wrote: ↑Sun 14 Apr 2019 10:08pmNo one is forcing you. Re: Hannebery unlikely to play AFL in first month of season
I saw him today straight after the match. He certainly gave me the impression that he was at work and not there just to watch the game. Hard to always tell these things when you just see someone for a few minutes, but he must have been on his way down to the rooms after the match as he was with one of the assistants (I think, I didn't recognize the guy but he was in full club attire, not the players' uniform that they wear to games when not playing).

Time for Dan to do the right thing and retire.
We negotiate an affordable payout salary cap payout over next two years & offer him a coaching role from 2021 as compensation.

Re: Hannebery unlikely to play AFL in first month of season
Assistant coaches don’t fall under the players salary cap and don’t usually get (reported) $800k over 4-5 year deals.
Would live to see Dan as an assistant after he negotiates a deal & retires
