Amazingly the players forgot how to tackle and dispose of the ball in the last two games. Coincidentally the games against the two AFL love chidren.

Collingwood last two games 46-17 in close games. Amazing to think we are 19-35 in close games.

The free kick count is irrelevant. If they're there, they should pay them. If they're not, they shouldn't.

Umpires also pay marks but nobody counts them and says we were ripped off because they paid more to the opposition than to us.

Sometimes they pay frees when the ball bounces over the back and advantage is paid. It goes in the stats but it's meaningless. The same when they could pay the mark or a free and they pay the free.

They also pay 50s and set marks and do countless other things that could advantage a team.

Bottom line, the numbers are meaningless. It's just a matter of did the umpires advantage your team or not.

I'm quite happy to argue particular cases and say we were robbed but I can do that without thinking there's any conspiracy against us.

And I have no interest in bringing up cases where we got the advantage. That's because I'm biased. But I'm happy with that.

I kind of get the feeling that if you cannot check your sanity at the door and/or you cannot feel slighted by the Umpiring that you might have to question your Saints fandom.

I am still unsure if I improve my sanity coming here and reading posts or writing my own ... sometimes it just good in a tingly sort of way
as for umpires - I dont even worry about their decisions one way or another because it something out of my and players hands
I do feel however i have a vested and financial interest in another botched forward 50 entry
or a clearing kickout of defence that lands squarely on the oppositons' chest
& I just sigh at easy center clearances by the opposition when our players just look like witches hats

I commend you for having the foresight to acknowledge your bias (as everyone on here has one) and recognising that it influences how you perceive the game.

We give away 1-2 frees every week for high contact on a player who is already on the ground holding the ball. Beats me why they keep doing it, but you might see it as a a skill error. I can’t remember the last time we gained a free for the same offence.

yep we might rabidly & frantically defend - but how 'bout we get first ball use the tally may well be very different
and note to players that doesnt mean jumping on the ball in the hope of a ball up
