I like that mix of ins. Pace and footskills. That’s pretty much how Carlton almost got over Port last week.

Caught me by surprise but there's enough confidence in all three to come in and impact. Good changes.

Agree. Parker a tallish option to replace Battle. Sinclair rewarded for good form in the scratch matches ( and has been an emergency for 5 or 6 weeks ) . Lonie’s omission reminds them that blokes have to keep performing . Shame for young Byrnes, but he did struggle last week and I expect he will get another chance in the coming block of games.

Makes us even quicker, and we already looked swift.
Battle out means we really need something from Marshall orRyder when they go forward.

I like it.

Don’t think we’re going to win but I like the ins, the rewards for form and the team balance

Am most surprised about Matty Parker... thought he was still getting his fitness up. Good for him to get the opportunity, hope he can grasp it because we know that Lonie will be fighting like hell to get it back.

What i like is unlike previous years we are starting to select players who replace the change for position.

Lonie - Parker Smaller forwards needing to bring pressure
Battle is a utility, Sinclair plays that wing utility role ( yes Battle bigger ) gone for quicker version
Byrnes is a pacey player, hind brings the same.

look what richmond does one steps in to replace the position. Perhaps as we don't have our own reserve team having guys run practise games without the influence of a third party has allowed the coaches to train players in games for specific roles if they get a call up. WB, Rich and Coll great examples where they used their reserves to do this and a next man up mentality . The guys coming in doesn't need to learn a new role . Could be a bonus of the situation

Hahaha

That’s so true.

Out - Lonie, In - Brown
Out - Battle, In - Paton
Out - Byrnes, In - Kent

Surprised at Lonie omission he provides so much pressure.
But then that maybe a case of needing to rotate players over this and the following 4 matches.
Hannebury not risked.
A win over Port would be bous but we don't need to risk our players ahead of better potetial wins.

Was Lonie omitted because he stole a free kick which required him to checkside kick ?

I like the it's (assuming Parker is fit), but where is Hannebery? I think he's leadership adds some intangibles.

Gresham named at centre half forward two weeks in row.
Is he better than Riewoldt ?

Doubtful that he was omitted so he mustn’t have come up

Omitted? I think he needs to be in before he's omitted but kinda understand what you mean skeptic.

Sadly this is becoming the norm / expectation with him. Unless he can get on the park and string some games together and actually contribute to an upwards trend for St Kilda, he'll always be our & Lethlean's albatross.

I think one of the things that Ratts is trying to improve is forward defensive pressure- it was poor against the Dockers, and we let the Crows get it out of our forward line too easy for part of the game on Monday, and it helped them get back into it. Lonie hasn't got the bulk to compete against strong defenders- could be why Parker is getting a run.
