I think you're on the mark there Toy Saint. It was average and certainly a part of his game that needs work, we can't afford another midfielder with poor to average foot skills.
He kicks of his left and right. Is that skill enough? He's elite

That's fantastic. Seb kicks off his left but without penetration and that is certainly not skill enough. Gresham is similar but his kicking can certainly improve.

I don't expect all players to kick like Billings, Hill & Coffield as their kicking is elite but that's a standard they should aspire to, left and right.

He's not the best kick and was why many other clubs passed on him at the draft. Our reason for midfield depth was the reason for our speculation selection of him in the draft so time will tell if he can make the grade. There will never be a better time for an average kicker to get a run of games on debut so the opportunity is his for the taking.

He made a solid debut And hopefully will be a player, but elite?

Elite to me is above A grade and Saints do not currently have an elite player IMO.

Steele, Marshall & Billings could argue being A grade, as could Hill but not in 2020. Hannebery 2011 - 2016 was elite but is C grade now.

Martin, Dangerfield, Neal, Kelly, Bont, McCrae, Shuey, Greene, Gray, Pendlebery, Grundy, Gawn, Cripps etc could put up a case to be considered elite.

I read your comment and it got me thinking bigger picture
Kosi is a curly supporter and usually agrees with him regarding umpire decisions
Kosi is demi mod = power
Umpires = power
Power ultimately corrupts
Umpires = corrupt

Curly was right all along

The ONLY reason he didnt go higher in the draft was his back.

Saying his draft position was based on his kicking is absolute bulltish.

It’s an emerging trend on his forum as of late...

Ppl are putting themselves in corners and rubbishing players to justify their POVs

We’ve seen it a bit with Ben Long who is being criticised harshly by a few of the Savage apologists

And now the whole... if we play play Bytel this year we’re tanking notion is looking to put the knock on this kid rather than acknowledge that perhaps a promising debut suggests that he may have been underrated

People potting players & coaches & football clubs was the reason the internet was invented.

It is not so much used for discussion but to justify a bias, this is the case with Long v Savage, Kent v Lonie, Ryder (trade) v Bruce (trade)...they are player bias.

Coach bias is the quintessential GT v Lyon to Richo v Ratts.

However with Bytel that is a bias born to justify a poster's ideology about the 2020 season. To somehow diminish and demean a kid's ability in an effort to save face OR sh!t stir. Neither offer any justification to takeaway from an impressive first game.

Not to mention the absolute s*** and garbage being heaped on Seb Ross this year. Talking about bias.

Talking about Bytel, it is hard to work out how Byrnes was preferred to him a couple of games ago or why he wasn't debuted earlier.

Yes hes not elite at AFL yet. However if you look at his under 18 form he was.

BOG for team Harvey in the under 17 all star game
In his TAC and Vic Metro games he was up there with Walsh, Rozee just behind rankine.

In his first game he had 18 touches at 78% efficiency against Geelong on a day we got smashed.

He was elite in juniors and I predict he'll be out best midfielder

I think the point is that the ability to kick off either foot is Elite.

I think every single person on here, well nearly everyone, hopes you're spot on. Incredibly promising debut against a very strong, very experienced midfield.

I'd like to know why the Saints don't organise the increasingly popular reality show style first game phone calls to ambush and embarrass mum and over hype expectations. The show hosts comments are so gaggingly heartwarming and folksy. What's the matter with us - think we are too professional all of a sudden and consider selection a rather serious matter.

Look forward to him finding space to kick, I've a feeling he'll cut teams up.

Absolutely spot on stkfc1. "Goods" needs the credit. Bytel's hands are elite, I've no doubt his feet will be. I look forward to enjoying his career.
