Re: Ben Long
He did and may be costly. Roberton, Savage & Webster, one will be the unfortunate beneficiary. Really feeling for Long & Ryder right now.

Hopefully the contact isn’t enough for a suspension, Dogs bloke basically got straight back up

Re: Ben Long
Nothing to answer IMO.
That fifty penalty just another example. It was a s*** free kick. Umpire needs to be told.

"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....

I’d like to see him focus on getting the ball.

Re: Ben Long
Was there any damage to the guy he hit? If not, the rule these days in finals is that you get off. On the other hand, he is a liability on the backline.

Re: Ben Long
I love his aggro in one sense but can’t quite tell if the throw himself at every contest is a good or bad thing
The back 6 of Coffield, Clark, Carlisle, Howard, Paton and Wilkie is like a well organised machine
They zone really well, cover for each other, the right number of players go up to a contest etc
Long on the other hand is a bit like a wild animal... he’s just got this crazy mongrel, attack at all costs mentality that often results in him taking the play on and getting beaten with the team being exposed.
On the other hand... his desperation at the contest, don’t know if there is anybody else I’d rather have there with it all on the line
Confusing emotions

I wonder if we’d be better of sending him back forward...perfectionist wrote: ↑Sat 03 Oct 2020 8:43pm Was there any damage to the guy he hit? If not, the rule these days in finals is that you get off. On the other hand, he is a liability on the backline.

Re: Ben Long
Pretty clearly hit his chin with the top of his shoulder, not really disputable.
Hopefully just a fine though. Does his earlier suspension this year come into it?

Re: Ben Long
He's the type of player that really makes you second guess when your head is over the footy.
He needs to be careful, of course... But he is a weapon in more ways than one. Yes, he is pointy and he hurts... But once he gets in your head, putting yourself over that ball at a center bounce becomes a lot more difficult.
Could have absolutely ironed McCrae out. Unfortunately, the MRP might not take the "could have" into consideration

Re: Ben Long
But hey, how good was it seeing a bloke come off the square at a centre bounce and try clean someone up
