Lonie

Post: # 1874805Post Goose is king »

I thought Lonie was crucial yesterday and since he got back in the team he is now very required and needs to be signed. He stole a goal from King but good on him for making a certainty of it from the goal line. He set up Geary unselfishly and a neat little pass to Ryder for another goal assist. No tackles but still chased hard.

Very good last 2 games.

Cool in the F50 and neat with his passes.

Good forward pressure and goes under the radar..

Sign him up

Agreed.

He’s a proper crumber around the contest that has the ability to make something from nothing and even when he’s not heavily involved in ply, he finds a way to contribute.

His attack at the ball, chasing, attempts to tackle are first rate.

Clever and very hard working player.
Was very good and unselfish last night.
The chip to Geary was great as Bulldogs players thought he was going for goal.
Have long been a Lonie fan, the lone Lonie fan I think here for a while.

I wish he'd stop the staging BS though, my only real bug bear with him.

I agree with everything you say, Joffa, but I’d also add that to be considered elite he has to be able to switch onto his right foot when hemmed in, or trying to be creative.

The boy can play & he has been pretty good over the last few weeks. IMO just a bit too inconsistent & gets knocked out of the contest too easily. Has skill & good footy brain but needs to kick more goals for a specialised small forward who can't really play anywhere else.

Prefer to keep him as he's really started to look good.

But prepared to lose him but need something significant back.

Great little player just dont know why he never developed a right foot. The left foot checksides into fwd 50 arent often great. His little schneider chips in off the left are very nice though!

Look I’m one of his biggest critics and I’m more than happy to concede that he has had a good few weeks but to sign him up on the back of that, no thanks.
He finished the season off well in 2018 and that convinced everyone he was the next Milney or Schneiderman, but his form since has been mediocre to say the least.
As for getting something significant back for him, he’s probably only worth a late 2nd or early 3rd rounder, so we’d have to package him with someone else to get anything significant.

Said earlier in the year that he could draw a second rounder if it came to trading.

He is too valueable to trade IMO. Far, far too important.

His effort in the Elim, setting up two goals from direct passes shows that he is has really developed into a very, very good small forward. His numbers stack up agains the best. His effort is absolutely consistent.

Sign him up.

If he has a big finals series and someone comes offering an early second rounder (Not out of the question).
We'd have to think about it.
