Does Bowey look remotely as good as what Caleb did
Personally I was very big on Caleb the year he was drafted and absolutely would have taken him where we took Lonie. He always looked like he could seriously play with the knock on him being his size

But is he a "like-for-like" with Lonie?? If so, then surely there is only room for one of them and we already have committed to Lonie.
Lonie is a small forward. Nothing else. Bowey is an outside mid, or if you like, a rover, just like his dad was.
50 years too late.
Everyone is 10 cm taller today.
Big John (knuckles) Nicholls was 189cm
Polly (wants a cracker) Farmer was 191cm
Carl (gentleman) Ditterich 194cm
Then along came ridiculously tall Len Thompson 200cm.
The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

#21 - Caleb Poulter - a fantastic SA lad finished with avgs of 24 possessions, 6 marks 1.2 goals - quite nice for a tall mid / forward or if he's on the board Stuart boy - Tommy Powell - crafty mid avgs of 35 disposals, 9 clearances, 6 inside 50's could be gold.
If we want a KPF/D Nick Cox at 199 cm is fast and clever, plays so damn clever. I think this is one of the smartest young guns Ive seen in a while. He played wing, forward
Jackson Callow looks handy but scouting reports highlight he flounders against quality defenders, even being shut out 3 times in 2019. That worried me. But he's worth a gamble.
Cox sounds like the go IMO
Cox will be well gone by our pick...Poulter will be thereabouts, club keen on Brayden Cook from SA from what I hear.

And Bowey Snr didn't half like to kick goals! I remember seeing him with my Dad at Moorabbin one day, kicking 5 goals in a game - he was electric that day - very good at getting the ball.

Brett Bowery
Astonishing facts.
1) we delisted him at age 25! After 7 seasons , three of which were very good judging by the number of games he played.
2) we delisted 12 players between Sep 30 and Oct 15 of that year! 12 ffs! (Including David Strooper!)
3) he averaged a goal a game...not bad for a small mid.

Many thanks for that Shane. Yes, I thought we ditched him far too early - he seemed to be a great player and 25 is his peak, FFS! Wow, a goal a game - I never knew that, but it doesn't surprise me, at all - that's teriffic.
Looking at his game history he seemed quite injury prone towards the end
The game he kicked 5 was a loss against the Dopers in 1990 - he also had 25 possessions
My standout Bowey moment was Round 4 against the Hawks in 1992 where jumped out to a 8 goal lead in the 1st quarter only to be pegged back with Bowey nailing the last of his 29 possessions running thru the centre of Moorabbin with a bullet pass to Plugger to seal the game - we won by 10pts with Plugger kicking 6
Usually I was sat in the GG Social Club but for that particular game I was in outer under the windsock with a mate

Incredible atmosphere - good times!!
I bet the atmosphere was good...1992 was a peak tide...the likes we had not seen since the very early 70s...when I was too young anyway. So 1992 was like....yes, here we are!!
Go for Max Heath if still available at our first pick. Nothing against the kid but if we take him with our first pick we have lost the plot. If he is still there at our second pick by all means take Bowey. Imagine him in the centre for a ball up and he ends up against Cripps of the Carlton variety. 194 cm vs 174 cm.

If Bowey Jnr is anything like his Dad, Crippsy will be watching him grab the ball from under his nose and go belting towards The Butler and The King!
Bowey is one of the better kicks in the draft, using his poise and skill to great effect on the wing for the Sandringham Dragons last season. He also has eye-catching speed and vertical leap for a player his size, running a 2.95-second 20m sprint at the combine and taking a spectacular hanger in the All Stars clash on Grand Final day last year.
Dan says: Would Bowey be a first-round lock if he was 10cm taller? Perhaps, and his poise and elite kicking has drawn comparisons to Caleb Daniel.
Jordan says: He’s composed and often makes the right decision – especially by foot.

You forgot round 2, 1989, when he got the three Brownlow votes ahead of Plugger, who kicked 10. Must have played one hell of a game.

Brett Bowey was an elite kick. He was very skillful overall. Ken Sheldon was pretty hard on him and didn't really rate him. Under a different coach he would have played a lot more football. If his son is as skillful, I'd be delighted if we picked him up

Would that be the same Ken Sheldon who in the 1993 draft insisted on picking a delisted player from Footscray, Michael Frost, at pick 8 because he was hard at the ball.
Hard at the ball and hardly ever got the ball.
Footscray could see something but Sheldon was totally blind.
Frost only lasted the one season of 11 games with St Kilda.
Sheldon sure knew how to pick good players from the bad.
A delisted player, he would have still been available at pick 50 but Sheldon used pick 8.
