Bit of both really. If it’s the one that you want, then you think they are the right one for the job and will be implemented

Re: Our next coach
I want the Norwood coach.
That’s a certainty to get us to the top.
Can you had him/ her/ them to the poll?

Re: Our next coach
I'd wait for the next coach to bring the playing group up to speed with the processes that Lethlean was talking about at the presser...
And then appoint Lethlean as the Head Coach (he's obviously the ONLY guy who really knows what the f*ck he wants)

Re: Our next coach
All those supporters yearning for a coach who can't win a flag and then dumps clubs with a desperate need to rebuild. I shudder at thought of our club hierarchy getting on their hands and knees and begging for his return. He came in last time where we had a cracker of a team but couldn't give us a flag - and didn't seem to have a next generation development strategy ... then bolted.

Re: Our next coach
What's the point of barracking for a team for 40 years and supporting the club financially and buying multiple memberships over 20 years when mercenaries and 'cocksmacks' come in for 5 years and screw you and screw your clubs chances of sustained success

Clearly we go for someone out of SANFL that nobody has heard of, probably working part time in another industry like education or accounting.

Re: Our next coach
I was looking for the bloke who hangs those pictures at Norwood. Apparently his philosophy revolves around the centre, balance and an eye for new pieces.
Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Re: Our next coach
That's only 14 for and 32 against Lyon so far ... imagine if there were more credible options right now - "Other" at 15 votes is indicative of that.
We'd probably lose members if Lyon signs ... he's a divisive risk?

Re: Our next coach
The excitement around the club that would arise from Ross's return is undeniable.
We could be looking at 70,000 members next year.
Imagine if we get off to a hot start and carry it through to September. Anything is possible.

Re: Our next coach
I agree, anything is possible ...
Even a 0-10 start as he had with Freo is possible - and that's with the team that got to the GF the year prior.
He ruined our chances of sustained success, and we're just going to welcome him with open arms?

Bevo is my first choice. Longmire as well.
Rookie coaches are a toss up. Get a dart board.
Lyon is not a development coach.

Re: Our next coach
I wonder if we'll know by the end of next week or Friday. I can't see how anyone apart from Beveridge or Lyon will be coach. There is no way they will go with a 1st timer unless they have a mentor like Beveridge or Lyon. I suspect Lenny will be the understudy for a couple of years before he takes over. Just a hunch.

People seem to be emotional. duh.. fair enough
People like to be judgmental about character OK
People seem to cheery pick numbers from history
Here’s a fact from history;
76 wins, 46 losses, 4 draws
The most successful coach short of Jeans.
It’s a long, long time ago, but that doesn’t seem to stop anyone around here!

Re: Our next coach
What about Barrie Robran?
He's younger than Joe Biden.
Do we think the hulking Adonis would be interested in crossing the boarder and taking on the Saints?

Not great, considering the strength of the lists at St Kilda and Freo.
And what were his w/l over the last 3 years at Freo? Did he choose to leave?

I don’t particularly like Lyon. Does anyone?
But I now worry that this huge ‘sugar rush’ we are generating will be seized on and fanned by the press, and will cave in on itself, and ironically (tho St Kilda is itself ironic) work against Lyon, and ultimately St Kilda.
If the adulation gets too much, then there is always the prospect for Barrat and Caro to start digging more in Lyon’s history and start asking St Kilda officials who will be appointed to and sign off on a ‘character review’ ..Then what happens, is that people will shelter behind ‘processes, systems, and committees’ …and these lead to ..well, the same situation we are in now. (Or we’re until Ratts sacking)
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Re: Our next coach
His w/l were about the same as Clarko & Matthews in their last 3 years at Hawks, Lions. Allan Jeans similar, last 3 at the Saints.samoht wrote: ↑Sun 16 Oct 2022 2:31pm172W 128L 5 Draws over his career.shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Sun 16 Oct 2022 2:18pm People seem to be emotional. duh.. fair enough

Plenty of other examples in the coaching world.
